On My Bedside {The Woman in the Window}

I read The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn last week and just cannot say enough good things about it. It is by far my most favorite read in the suspense / thriller genre in recent memory. In many of the others that I enjoyed, I was conflicted between liking the story and hating the protagonist. While I certainly pitied her at times, overall I liked Anna Fox and found her humorous, self deprecating and to be a chick trying (in her own way) to get her life back together after an unspeakable tragedy.

It isn’t paranoia if it’s really happening . . .
Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.

Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, mother, their teenaged son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble and its shocking secrets are laid bare.

What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.

Twisty and powerful, ingenious and moving, The Woman in the Window is a smart, sophisticated novel of psychological suspense that recalls the best of Hitchcock.

I wanted to speed through it, but also didn’t want it to end. Such a delicate balance, right?! Add this one to your October list! It’s going in my Little Free Library tomorrow if you happen to live on my street. :-)

Speaking of which, I’d love any spooky, thrilling, suspenseful suggestions you have for MY October list.
