A Sweet Celebration for Number 11

We celebrated Whit’s eleventh birthday with a cosmic blow out at the skating rink!

From great friends being sick to a snow storm cancelling the whole thing, for one reason or another, his December birthday party has felt a little lackluster the past couple of years. I know from big brother than big birthday celebrations will soon be a thing of the past, so I was determined to make this one memorable.

He chose the same skating rink where cousin Jay celebrated his 10th this spring and it was just a phenomenal time!

We had about twenty kids AND eight adults out on the rink!

I tried to pin him down on a theme for weeks, but he kept coming back to candy and Elsa. Since we did an Elsa party last year, we went with candy for this one.

Mother and I painted the canvas the day before, using circle sponge painters and a variety of colorful craft paints. I had everything on hand other than the canvas which I picked up on sale for $13! Sister helped me design the cake, which I had done by a local bakery. The table cloths, plates and candy favors were from Dollar Tree, and the rest of the paper products, confetti and balloons from Party City.

The sparkler candles with all of the strobe lights and black lights looked fantastic!

I’m keeping the photos of the guests for us, but here’s some of the cousins!

It was a sweet celebration for a sweet kid. He had such a wonderful time I have ZERO regrets for doing it up big this time!
