Christmas Jars Book Giveaway

If you’ve been around here for a while you will know that I have a great deal of love for the Christmas Jars book, story and “movement”.  This book touched me in a way that not many others have and we will give away our FIFTH Christmas Jar this month.

I encourage you to read the book as I cannot retell the story as beautifully as it has already been written.  But, the premise behind the Christmas Jar is that you contribute to it throughout the year.  Your pocket change (we exclude only pennies).  A few spare dollars.  And every time you do so, your spirits are lifted.  You don’t have to have a lot of extra money or time or experience and even the smallest children can contribute.  During the Christmas season, you anonymously give the jar to someone in need.  Some years ours has been a random person that we encountered during our day, and others it has been someone we noticed earlier in the year that could use a little extra love and help.

I usually wait until January to give away a copy of the book, but I know many are moving on from Christmas reads by then.

Like in past years, I have a copy to give away to one of you!!  The giveaway is open to US mailing addresses.  Leave a separate comment for each of the following and include your email address if you aren’t linked to a blog where I can find you.  There are TWO ways to enter per person!!

1. Sign up for the Dixie Delights email.  If you’re already signed up, just leave a comment saying so.

  1. Amanda,
I am glad you mentioned that younger children can contribute as well. I think this would be a great teaching tool for younger children to learn the importance of giving, sharing and kindness. I have a 6 year old great nephew that I would like to share this book with.

  2. P.S. I forgot to mention that I am signed up on Dixie Delights. My favorite way to show a random act of kindness is surprising someone such as veteran by buying their lunch.

  3. I am already a subscriber and enjoy your blog posts.

My favorite is is to mail an anonymous notes of appreciation or recognition to someone each month. All of us can use a kind word, an acknowledgment of our impact, or often just a piece of mail in our box as connection to the world.

  4. We went to DC last week for Thanksgiving and knew we’d see a lot of homeless people. Together with the kids, we put together care packages with hotel toiletries, sanitary pads (for the women), candy, and a little money all in a Ziploc bag. Everyday we’d place a few in our backpack and give them away. Several people cried. It was entirely humbling.

  5. I am a subscriber and enjoy your blog. One of my random acts of kindness is letting people in front of me in traffic. Also being extra generous at Christmas for those in need.

  6. Already signed up for emails. I try to show kindness whenever possible, but an everyday example is simply being courteous on the road. Just letting people merge easily and allowing those who’ve made a mistake to get in front of you. Driving in and out of the city for work on a daily basis allows for so many acts that are so simple. Let’s make commuting less stressful by being kind to one another!

  7. I’ve been a subscriber for years. 😊

I love performing RAOK’S and prefer doing so anonymously. Among many, I like to leave notes on car windshields, shopping carts, in various places throughout a store, on mail boxes (I live in an apartment); so many great places! In the cosmetics area “You are beautiful!” Notes from “Have a blessed day!” “Drive safely, you are so loved!” “I hope your shopping is fun & rewarding today!” “Great book! Enjoy it with a cup of tea.” “You are a wonderful person & I hope you have a magical day!”

    You get the idea! 😉🥰

  8. Already a subscriber! My small act of kindness is to get things off the top shelf while shopping. I’m almost 6 ft but my mother is very petite and I started doing it for her while grocery shopping in junior high. Now if I’m out and about and see someone on their tippy toes I always offer to grab it for them. It’s a small thing but It always makes the other person and I laugh and smile. And I always call my mother afterwards to tell her!

  9. I am a baker so I love to suprise friends and family with cakes or cookies for a random act of kindness. I also like to make cupcakes and take them to the nearest police station or fire station for the workers.

  10. Thanks for the opportunity. I am a follower. My favorite random act of kindness during the Christmas season and giving away children’s books to kids I see shopping with their mom and may need a little bit of distraction. I do this particular one to honor my late son who loved reading his entire life.
