Favorite Meat Free Dishes for Lent

It’s the first Sunday in Lent and I thought I’d go ahead and update our favorite meat free dishes!

Grown Up Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup

We learned this recipe on our Alaska cruise and have been making it since we got back! The grilled cheese is definitely “grown-up” and you can absolutely taste the Brie, which I know a lot of kids are not fans of. Luckily mine are so we all loved it. The technique of blending the cheeses makes for a wonderfully gooey, perfectly melted consistency. Find the recipe HERE.

Two Great Quiches

They are easy, cook beautifully and are nice enough for company. For dinners, I serve with a simple green salad. For breakfast, I enjoy with a side of fruit. Find the recipe HERE.

Hot Tomato Grits

Mother has been making this for years! We usually have it for breakfast, but it absolutely works for a meat free dinner as well. Find the recipe HERE.

Stuffed Red Peppers

This is another trusty recipe from my parents. It is SO good! When we aren’t going meat free, grilled chicken is great with it. Find the recipe HERE.

Grilled Pizzas

Of course pizza is a Lenten staple! As we get closer to Easter and the weather turns nicer, we love to take it out to grill on the Big Green Egg. Find the recipe HERE.

Bang Bang Shrimp and Fried Rice

This one had fallen off of my rotation until I started thinking through this post. We all used to love it and I am definitely bringing it back soon! Find the recipe HERE.

Asian Noodle Salad

This one makes a TON and we all love it. You can make it with or without chicken. I personally prefer it without. I am funny about cold meat. Find the recipe HERE and a shortcut recipe HERE.

Potato Soup

It’s usually still pretty chilly here at the beginning of Lent, so soups are made a LOT. My two favorite soup recipes both call for bacon as a topping, so I just serve without the bacon on Friday. This one sneaks in some extra veggies: Country Potato Soup. And, this one is a more richer, indulgent version: Baked Potato Soup.

And, when all else fails, meatless spaghetti and grilled cheese are completely acceptable options as well!! If you have a favorite, feel free to share it here.

  1. What a lovely collection of recipes! We love tomato grits and often make them as shrimp and grits here. xo
