Historic Savannah {Perry Lane Hotel}

Growing up in Savannah, I get asked a lot about where to stay when visiting! Since my parents still live there and Sister has a home at Tybee Island, we visit often but just don’t stay in hotels. In fact, the last time I slept in a Savannah hotel was my wedding night! There are some great rates out there right now for summer travel and when I booked Perry Lane Hotel for clients, we spur of the moment booked ourselves too!

Perry Lane is located off the beaten path in Savannah’s historic district, with easy access to the most popular things to see, do and eat, but not right in the middle of the party scene. If you know Savannah well, you will likely agree that Savannah is a unique mix of elegance and edgy. It’s a place unlike any other. Perry Lane Hotel captures this duality in its contemporary design, Southern hospitality and love for this historic city.

After four months, there was something absolutely magical about pulling up to a valet and being welcomed back to a hotel!

Perry Lane expertly navigated the delicate balance of luxury hospitality without feeling like a sterile hospital in our new covid-19 environment. All of the amenities you are used to in luxury travel were there, but everyone involved took measures to stay safe.

We didn’t take the welcome glass of bubbly for granted or rush through it to get to the “next thing” as we often do when touring a city. Instead, we sat back, relaxed and savored every sip in the library room!

Perry Lane has a lovely set of daily amenities included with your stay, and then you get a bunch more just for booking with me!! Highlights include:

  • Two medium hot or cold drip coffees from Bowerbird
  • Two cocktails, up to $15 value each
  • Two glasses of sparkling wine
  • Luxury courtesy transport within a 2-mile radius
  • Use of house bicycles

Additional amenities for booking with me (highlights):

  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability (we were upgraded from superior to deluxe room for lovely views of the historic district)
  • Complimentary a la carte breakfast daily at the Emporium Kitchen & Wine Market for two guests per bedroom (delicious!)
  • $100 USD Resort/Hotel credit to be utilized during stay (We used on multiple trips to the roof-top bar, Peregrin)
  • Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability (we arrived at 12:30 PM and were in our room soon after)

The hotel lobby lounge areas include a lovely library and piano room. I immensely enjoyed my morning coffee here!

Our two queen room had lovely views of the historic district. We walked inside and literally fell on the fluffy beds we were so excited!

The rooftop pool was charming, but tiny and not super kid-friendly. I say that in full disclosure mode, but I don’t often recommend Savannah as a destination for a “resort stay”. It’s a magical, active city and if you come here you should plan to explore!

As far as dining, Bowerbird is a coffee and gelato shop off of the lobby. It connects to the Emporium which offers sit down dining throughout the day and a lounge in the evenings. I wouldn’t make a special trip to Perry Lane to dine here, but having the yummy breakfast included was fantastic and we didn’t skip it!

The Peregrin offers exquisite views of the cityscape from the rooftop deck. You’ll find hand-crafted premium cocktails and a curated wine list, as well as small plates and a limited dinner menu. With the Virtuoso amenities through my agency, you receive two complimentary drinks and a $100 resort credit to use on food and beverage. Hence, we made a nightly visit here! They have a limited menu for meals, a fair selection of small plates and a full bar.

If you are in the Southeast and looking for a road trip, I can’t recommend my home town enough. The hotel was absolutely excellent with their new safety measures in place – including masks, gloves and social distancing. The restaurants and shops in the historic district were creative in expanding their outdoor areas and we immensely enjoyed eating out again. Many of the sites are outdoors and we lucked out with blissful weather for mid-June.

Perry Lane is Savannah’s ONLY luxury hotel. My other favorites are The Mansion and Bohemian. The Ballastone Inn would be my recommended bed and breakfast.

  1. Thank you. Amanda. We used to spend a long weekend in Savannah every Thanksgiving. We always stayed at the Ballastone. Love Jennifer and her staff. The total ambiance of every room, nooks and crannies.

  2. Thanks Amanda, Savannah is not only a beautiful city, but it has some magic to it. I’ll have to try the recommendations, especially since it is coming from a local. Take Care.
