Musings

It’s been way too long since I shared a random assortment of our goings, musings and doings.

Honey is still working remote full time. As he has settled into this routine, we see less and less of him during the day. Mornings where we start our day with a quiet walk have become rare, and I treasure them more than ever.

John has been back in lacrosse since May 30. It has been SO good for him – and all of us, to be honest.

All of Whit’s summer activities were outright cancelled. He’s great about cooking, helping around the house and getting outside to shoot hoops and throw the lacrosse ball. But, let’s be honest. He’s really perfected sleeping in, spending hours on the xbox and staying up late with big bro.

My work is slowly coming back to life. The clients have left on the calendar for 2020 seem ready to travel, and I’ve had an uptick in bookings in the past couple of weeks. I’ve had clients head to Savannah and Palm Beach, most recently. Sister’s family is my first “client” to be back at Disney World, hitting the parks for a quick two night trip for the grand reopening. I’ve shared snippets of her experience at www.instagram.com/dixietravels

Speaking of Disney, I saw this meme and it made me laugh so hard!

I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve essentially left Facebook. There’s no joy there for me anymore. Over on Insta, oldsilvershed is my new kind of check-every-day full of joy obsession!

How is the return to school looking where you are? Here, it is a mess. We are pretty sure what we are doing with the boys but will wait until the last minute to make the commitment. Overall, I am so, so, so sad (like full on tears sad) about how John will start high school. He is too. :-(

And, speaking of school, he took advantage of his 5 month summer to knock out PE in summer school. He’ll start with a year of Spanish, a year of math and a semester of PE under his belt!

I have perfected the California Grill Blueberry Lemon Drop and made a slight tweak to the recipe here!

On the topic of cocktails, a friend sent me this photo and I can’t wait to track it down. She was on a getaway to North Georgia when she found it. You sip it over ice in the summer. I’d love to know if anyone has tried it!

I keep this on my phone because it is so TRUE…

… I also keep this one. I’ve had it saved for 5 years now.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. We are supposed to find out on the 27th with the next school board meeting reopening plans. As a teacher I am very, very nervous to go back right now face-to-face. It has been a huge mess here too trying to figure it out :( I teach high school with a school of 2400 students and 200 plus staff. I have no idea how they’ll do it. As of now the 2 options for parents are face-to-face 5 days a week or 100% virtual for a committed full semester.

  2. We are so relieved that (for the most part) we don’t have to deal with the chaos surrounding school reopening decisions and such! It does affect our homeschool community and I agree so much about John’s starting high school this way, although from the opposite side – this is Ryan’s senior year and NOTHING will be the same. Selah. I’ve never been happy that my boys are getting older, but in this instance I’m SO thankful that we’re nearing the end of our (non-secondary) education journeys.

We make the best of what we have, right? And we continue on. There are positives all around, and we’re commanded to think on those things. ❤️ I admire your calm spirit and uplifting outlook, friend. xo
