Breckenridge {Shopping & Dining}

Downtown Breckenridge was just the most charming little ski town! I absolutely loved that it is still Christmas here! The days were sunny and bright, and the evenings were full of twinkle lights. I did peruse some stores, but only came home with our Christmas ornaments.

Breckenridge Dining

The men planned our itinerary and chose some wonderful places to eat! We had reservations for every night, and that was absolutely necessary. About half of the places we went were at 25% capacity and the other half were “five star certified” to have 50% capacity. In every instance, we were WAY more than 6 feet apart from the closest party. Everyone was so friendly and happy to see us.

Ollie’s Pub & Grub

Ollie’s was a fun little place in this boat behind main street. They serve classic American food and it was a great family night out. We had our own little room for our party.

Gravity Haus Snow Cabanas

This was our FAVORITE of the whole week! One afternoon for apres ski we reserved a snow cabana for our group. On a second evening, we reserved a cabana for dinner. Aside from the novelty and utmost in social distancing, the food and serve were excellent! There was a comfy seating area off to the left of the table and the cabana came with a heater, chargers, games, blankets and more. I think this is what we will all remember most!

Cabin Juice at Gravity Haus

Inside the main building, was a warm and inviting dining room. Just downstairs was a fabulous coffee bar. This space was just steps away from the lift at Peak 9 and Maggie’s, and was a wonderful respite from the cold. I loved everything I had from here. They also offer lodging, which would be so convenient!

Rocky Mountain Underground

RMU was a fabulous little cocktail bar that we stumbled upon on the way to dinner. Like the other restaurants, they had up a full plexi glass shield and extremely limited seating. The cocktails here were creative and delicious! See the smoking cinnamon stick in Honey’s drink?!?!

Blue River Bistro

We celebrated a belated Valentine’s Day adult dinner at Blue River Bistro right on Main Street. The food and service were exceptional! We had a variety of seafood and steaks and all raved about our food. Honestly, we loved every part of our experience here and I can highly recommend it for fine dining.

The Canteen Tap House & Tavern

The Canteen was great for a family night out. We had the upstairs to ourselves. Owned by Breckenridge locals, we also loved supporting a small business. Cocktails came in these fun canteen mugs. The men also appreciated the selection of Colorado beers. The fare was like modern comfort food with hearty portions.

Mountain Top Cookie Shop

We all stopped in Mountain Top Cookie Shop for dessert after dinner one evening. The cookies were quite delicious, as we had hoped from the long line outside! The teens continued to pop over here in the evenings for a later-night snack.

Crepes a la Cart

The big winner in Breckenridge dining for me was Crepes a la Cart. Our friend from Denver advised this as a must-do! We passed it quite a few times, with a line heading down a full block and signs saying the wait could top an hour. On one of my ski days off, I took a morning walk to get some fresh air and was thrilled to see nobody waiting! I enjoyed the most delectable Mexican Hot Chocolate while I waited. I ordered a savory crepe for lunch and dined fireside on the back deck. I brought home a sweet crepe to share with the family. Both were delicious!

Continental Divide Winery

The adults spent our last evening wine tasting at Continental Divide Winery, the world’s highest altitude winery. We had a great fireside table. We thought we were eating dinner here too, but its just wine. :-) Still a great experience!

Swiss Haven Restaurant

After wine flights and no food, we were desperate for dinner! We lucked out with a table downstairs at Swiss Haven in their Absinthe Bar. Fondue was a cozy and delicious way to end our incredible Breckenridge week. We also tried absinthe – a neat experience although I didn’t care for it at all.

Every single place we ate did a wonderful, thoughtful and careful job in keeping the experience safe and enjoyable for all. We were so impressed with the protocols in place. Advance planning is absolutely necessary for indoor dining, and I’m so glad the guys handled it.

I’m far from an expert, but if you have a question about Breckenridge, I’m happy to try and answer!
