Celebrating Mardi Gras {King Cake Cocktails}

Happy Mardi Gras, y’all!

At long last, I finally got my hands on a bottle of King Cake vodka on our trip to New Orleans last Mardi Gras! Honey and I tried out two festive cocktails over the last couple of weeks.

King Zulu

  • 2 oz king cake vodka
  • 2 oz pineapple joice
  • .5 oz coconut syrup or dash of coconut extract
  • ginger ale or sparkling wine to top

Shake well and strain over ice. Top with ginger ale or sparking wine. Makes 1 cocktail.

Purple, Green & Gold

This one was our favorite of the too in that it wasn’t quite as sweet as the King Zulu!

  • 2 oz king cake vodka
  • .5 oz lime juice
  • .25 oz simple syrup
  • 1 oz grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • mint leaves to garnish, optional

Add everything to a shaker with ice. Strain into a coupe glass.

Fancy Sprinkles

I rimmed my glasses with this fun Mardi Gras mix from Fancy Sprinkles. I also added green and purple to my prism powder collection.

You can see here that the purple prism powder left me with a gray drink, rather than purple. I didn’t account for the pink color I started with. It was quite glittery though!

  1. The cocktails look festive and fun, even for a year without parades here in New Orleans. There is always a way to celebrate!
    On another note…would you share where your beautiful tray is from?

  2. I hope you enjoyed Mardi Gras. Although, because of Covid, many restrictions were there. It will be interesting to know how the experience was without the crowd and parades.

    Both drinks look amazing. Using prism powder is a great suggestion. Thanks for posting this article.
