Atlanta {Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience}

Last week my bestie and I had a double date to Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience in Atlanta! We looked forward to this for more than three months and were SO excited to finally have our date come up on the calendar.

The Atlanta expo takes place at Pullman Yards in the Kirkwood area of town. Face coverings are required, at least as of last Thursday.

The entire experience takes about 75 minutes. It starts with a self guided tour through a gallery of his most famous works and his personal timeline. It is here that you learn more about Van Gogh, his art, his style and his life.

The really remarkable part of the experience takes place in the next room. Van Gogh’s most compelling works come to life in a 20,000 square foot light and sound 360 degree spectacular.

The projections run on a loop and you simply come in at your leisure, find a spot and let yourself be swept away. It is absolutely magical!

We started on a bench and then moved to chairs as they opened up. I highly recommend the chairs. :-)

I caught this pic of my bestie and I just couldn’t love it more.

In the final room, you have the option to enjoy a one of kind Virtual Reality interactive experience. We bought this as part of our package, but you can also add it on the spot. You don the VR headset and it guides you on a ten-minute journey through “A day in the life of the Artist.” It was incredible to walk alongside Van Gogh during this peaceful journey and discover the inspiration behind eight of his iconic works, including: Vincent’s Bedroom at Arles, and Starry Night Over The Rhone River. My only complaint would be that the face mask plus paper eye mask guard thing were uncomfortable together.

We all left completely wowed! If you already have tickets, I am SO excited to hear your thoughts. As of this weekend, I heard some were still available and I definitely recommend going if you can snag one.

Afterwards we had dinner at Salaryman and it was the perfect cap to our evening. I’ll share a full review soon but for now know that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it!

  1. This looks amazing! Any idea if this is a traveling exhibit? If so, hope it gets to the West Coast.

    1. It is a traveling exhibit. It was in Miami about two to three weeks ago. I hope you get to enjoy it.

  2. I treated myself this week and went on Monday. Took the afternoon off and loved every minute of it. Especially that room being surrounded in all of his paintings. I thought VR was worth money ! Im glad you enjoyed it -such a fun way to spend an afternoon
