God Bless CeeCee {First Communion}

Our precious CeeCee celebrated her first holy communion this past weekend. It could not have been a more perfect day – the sun was shining, the birds were chirping – for this blessed sacrament.

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Mother made CeeCee’s dress. Her lace gloves and mask were from here.

She did such a wonderful job and worked so hard for two years towards this day. I have always loved first communion mass. These children are true messengers of the gospel of the church, and all Catholics rejoice for them!

With limited seating, I was incredibly grateful to have a seat in the church along side Sister’s family. <3 CeeCee calls me not just her godmother, but her “fairy godmother”. :-)

CeeCee chose to have high tea at the St. Regis afterwards for her celebration. What an amazing treat!!! The biggest gift of all was that Honey, my boys AND MY PARENTS joined us for the occasion!!! They have not been to Atlanta since January 2020!

Sister set the table with prayer cards and a darling hand-made pottery piece for each of us.

It was the girliest, most delicious little lunch. Having the ten of us around a table again to honor the last first communicant in our family was an afternoon I treasure.

I was at the mass while the boys dressed themselves for tea. Hmmmm….. not exactly what I had laid out. :-)

We gave CeeCee the prayer bowl from Clarey Clayworks. Mother and Daddy-O gave her the rosary beads and pearl earrings. Daddy-O gave the earrings to Mother with her matching pearl necklace shortly after they were married (now almost 52 years!). She since replaced the the earrings with larger pearls and passed the originals to CeeCee, who just recently got her ears pierced. The little pouch to carry the rosary beads was Mother’s as a child.

  1. What a sweet post. I was just able to attend our oldest grand-daughters First Holy Communion and it is a beautiful sacrament to witness. I was able to give her the rosary that I received and a prayer card from my teacher dated April 2 1962. Finding it and now passing it to her was a blessing. Traditional prayer cards have the loviest images and are timeless. The dress made by your mothers is beautiful, as was the celebration. Thank you for always sharing family celebrations and traditions with your followers.

  2. What a beautiful event made even more sweet with those family keepsakes passed on to CeeCee. Prayers for your family and such a joy to see all your children’s celebrations posted. A great reminder that they are the hope and our future.

  3. Congratulations, CeeCee. What a blessed sacrament first communion is!! I absolutely LOVE how your family shares its treasures. It’s so neat that CeeCee has her grandma’s earrings and rosary pouch. Thank you for sharing.

  4. Beautiful. All of it. I was wondering where your sister found her adorable sandals. They woudl be perfect for my daughter. Thank you!

  5. What a special day! I had to laugh at the way your boys dressed, mine would have done the same thing. Gone are the days of cute clothes!

  6. 😇👰🏼‍♀️😇 Thank you for sharing this beautiful occasion, Amanda! 🕍 It is all very special and absolutely perfect. How can Cee Cee this age?!
