Musings

Good morning friends! Here’s a recap of musings, goings and doings from the past month or so!

I finally managed to make boiled peanuts as good as Daddy-O’s. There’s honestly nothing like em.

Honey and I have spent hours between the stacks at the library this summer. Our boys won’t go but that doesn’t stop us. And, hopefully, one day they will love to read as much as we do. Our favorite evening activity is to float in the pool with a book.

The boys next door had a lemonade stand. Oh, how I miss those sweet days. I gave them a whole dollar and told them to keep the change. :-) Their eyes lit up with joy. So, I called Whit and told him to dig up a dollar and head next door. He reported back “The lemonade was tasty which is good since I paid twice the price for it. I also overcame my anxiety of having a conversation with a six year old.” That was well worth the extra fifty cents, my son. He slays me.

Too soon, Target. Too soon.

This made me laugh. Sent it to the men in the family.

I made Ina’s mustard chicken salad. It’s one of only two or three recipes by her that I didn’t like. Pass.

The baseball boys. Whit has wrapped up his baseball career (again). I’m excited to see what he does next!

Naughty, naughty girl. Notice big sis looking on in horror. :-)

Guilty. I had to really stare at it to figure it out.

I got this book stand from Ballard Designs in early spring. I love it to display a family photo album!

I found this in the laundry. Mystified, I inquired what it was for. John’s group of girl friends don’t just get together to hang. They get together to hang with theme nights. This was Two Truths and Lie. I’m guessing they called lie on him preeeeeetty quickly.

    1. Yes – bag of peanuts, 1/3 cup salt, 3 quarts water. I boil for 3-4 hours and then let cool in the brine.

  1. They started putting school stuff out here by June 18. Graduation was the weekend before and schools were just finishing on the 16th and 17th. It’s nuts.
