What We’re Watching Part 6

We did ALL the binging of shows over the holidays and it felt amazing to not have all the nightly duties that come when school is in session. Here’s my What We’re Watching Part 6 roundup.

Wednesday

Whit was the first one of us to binge Wednesday. He raved about it for days until we all decided to tune in together. He loved it so much he watched it again! I loved the Addams Family so much as a kid and dove right back into this creepy, kooky, spooky series. The characters are seriously likable, it’s fun to get more insight into Wednesday’s back story, and Jenna Ortega knocks the character out of the park. I seriously break out in laughter every time I recall her dance scene in episode 4. Highly recommend. Family friendly for tweens and teens. We anxiously await season 2!

Smart, sarcastic and a little dead inside, Wednesday Addams investigates a murder spree while making new friends — and foes — at Nevermore Academy.

Anatomy of a Scandal

Honey and I watched Anatomy of a Scandal together – a rare show we both wanted to see. I thought the series was engrossing, but I don’t know if it was more for the storyline or for desperately wanting another glimpse of the Whitehouse manse or for living for Sophie’s next outfit.

Sophie’s privileged life as the wife of powerful politician James unravels when scandalous secrets surface — and he stands accused of a shocking crime.

The Watcher

I watched The Watcher all by my lonesome – nobody in my family could feign the least bit of interest in this one. I only allowed myself the indulgence when I was walking on the tread so that was pretty motivating exercise wise. :-) This one didn’t garner much critical acclaim, but I do love a spooky tale based on a true story. I also love Jennifer Coolidge, although “Bend and Snap” runs through my mind on repeat throughout every show she’s in.

Ominous letters. Strange neighbors. Sinister threats. A family moves into their suburban dream home, only to discover they’ve inherited a nightmare.

The White Lotus

Honey and I watched The White Lotus and all I can say is… well, that was weird. I mean, despite how strange and sad it was, we tuned in every night of both seasons until we finished. As mentioned, I do love Jennifer Coolidge, so that was one point in pro column. Overall, both seasons just left me feeling a little sad for humanity. I also know that satire is not really my genre.

The White Lotus is a sharp social satire following the exploits of various employees and guests at an exclusive Hawaiian resort over the span of one highly transformative week. As darker dynamics emerge with each passing day, the six-episode first season gradually reveals the complex truths of the seemingly picture-perfect travelers, cheerful hotel employees, and idyllic locale itself. Season 2 is set at an exclusive Sicilian resort and, similar to the first season, follows the exploits of guests and employees over the span of a week

Flowers in the Attic: The Origin

I read the books as a kid and watched the made for Lifetime series back in 2014. Well, now Lifetime has the origin story of twisted family matriarch Olivia Winfield. Needless to say, I watched this alone and really wouldn’t have wanted my kids to see it anyway. :-) Just like I was as a child, I was completely engrossed in the disturbing story of the Foxworth family. If you remember these books, give the shows a try.

The story of the headstrong and determined Olivia Winfield who is working alongside her beloved father when she finds herself unexpectedly wooed by one of the nation?s most eligible bachelors, Malcom Foxworth. After a whirlwind romance, Olivia finds herself as the mistress of the imposing Foxworth Hall, where she soon discovers that the fairytale life she expected has quickly become a nightmare.

I am moving on to the latest season of The Crown now. What are you watching?
