Go BIG! Go Six Flags!

It has become a little tradition for my sweet friend A to take our big boys out on a little back to school day of fun each summer.  And this year the outing of choice was SIX FLAGS!!!  This worked well considering John earned a free ticket for participating in a reading program this past school year :-)

It turned out to be the perfect day for coaster riding and water sliding!!  The high was only around 80 and the humidity spared us for the day.

We loved old favorites like Monster Mansion (has this changed in 30 years?!?)…

And got our thrills on rides we were just tall enough to do like Acrophobia!!  (Hello, 200 foot plunge…)

We were all excited to give the slides a run at the new Hurricane Harbor as well.  It was so clean and new!!

In the end we spent almost EIGHT hours in the park.  A super fun and memorable way to wrap up summer for these two sweet friends!!  They are already plotting next year’s adventure…

  1. SO fun! We have not been in years. I used to request to go for Fright Fest every year for my day-before-Halloween-birthday. This will be on our list in a few years.

  2. I love your blog and check it daily for inspiration and a smile. I just keep thinking I wish I could call Amanda and pick her brain. I hope this isn't too long of a comment, but I couldn't resist. My oldest daughter turns 13 this month- eek. Her bday has been overshadowed by friends with cancer, weddings, and back to school for the last 3 years. She has been totally fine with no parties but like you I love parties and have regretted letting them go. This year another wedding and more cancer has come up. A friend of mine has asked us to go to six flags with them to celebrate their daughters 13th combo with them. They want to each take a set of friends- eek. We have to drive 3 hours to the park- eek, again. I would love, love, love suggestions on how to make it a real 'party". That sounds silly, but I think I gather from your blog you will get what I mean. So sorry for long comment. Please keep posting your sweet times. I love it!!

    1. Oh sweet girl! This sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate being 13!! I would def do a real invitation. You could make them matching shirts or tanks that say something cute ( I'm sure Tricia at HKL designs could help). You could get them fun glasses or hats or boas to wear. They have a cute ice cream sundae funnel cake in the park – bring in a candle and lighter and make it her cake. Take loads of pics!!! Oh and she could also wear a birthday button or something to denote its her special day. Have so much fun!!!!!!!

  3. Super ideas!! I love the idea of the candle. I would have never thought of that. I love all your ideas! I am going to do them all!! Tanks in the works asap! Your encouragement means the world! I am also going to use your Disney road trip treat idea and switch it up for six flags so that each girl gets a little travel treat sack. Thank you tons for getting back to me so quick!! You are the best!!
