Soft Pretzel Snack

The littles have been helping me make the yummiest soft pretzels this summer.  With a cool glass of lemonade on the porch, it’s a snack the neighborhood boys can’t say no to :-)

Since the baby had the duty of helping me grocery shop during the school year, I’ve been dragging John along this summer.  Life skills… or maybe just because the littles are so darn easy when split up.  He begged for this Fleischmann’s mix so we threw it in the buggy to try on a rainy day.  They DO take a while to make, but are so worth it!!  We’ve been doing half with just salt, and the other half we drizzle with honey and sprinkle generously with a cinnamon and sugar mixture.  The sweet ones are just like Mellow Mushroom.  I keep meaning to pick up stuff to try and copy their savory version.

I’d occasionally buy the box of frozen soft pretzels but they don’t stand a chance of getting eaten when these are around.

We had a BAD day yesterday (car overheated / bat in the house / night in the ER… more to come) so things have to be looking better for the holiday weekend.

  1. My goodness! Your house sounds like mine! There is always something going on! And by the way, the picture of the bat is SCARY!!! Kudos to you for getting close enough to take a picture!! Hope today is a better day.

  2. Saw the bat on Instagram…I would have been at the ER with palpitations!! I am going to try those pretzels with the grands. Kendall and I are making red velvet cupcakes for tomorrow.

  3. The pretzels look so good! We found gluten free frozen ones but they are so darn expensive. Need to learn to make them. Hope today is a better day!!! That bat still gives me the creeps!!

  4. Hi,
I have just found your blog and have really enjoyed checking out your awesome work, ideas, thoughts, etc.
I have a question about a post that you did some time ago, the HGTV post. I would love to know how you hung the silver trays on your wall. I have wanted to do this but I don't know a good way to accomplish it. I know that there are adhesives but my trays are rather heavy and I am afraid that they will fall off the wall.
I would so appreciate your insight.
    Thank you! Fran

  5. Oh my goodness – a rough day, indeed! We love soft pretzels here, but have only ever done the frozen ones & doctored them up on occasion. We'll have to give the mix a try. Hope today has been a better day! xo

  6. Amanda-
Yikes! Sounds like a horrendous day. Here's to a much better weekend:-) Hoping your parents in Savannah are safe and sound after the storm that is moving up the coast. Have a great 4th!
