Disney Day 1: Animal Kingdom

We arrived at Animal Kingdom bright and early and bee-lined straight to the Kilimanjaro Safari, where we saw loads of amazing African creatures.  I was just in utter disbelief that the things weren’t caged in. They appeared to be roaming totally free.  How amazing!!
We were lucky enough to see the four month old baby elephants drinking water while mommy kept watch, a flamingo feeding her baby and lions up and moving about (apparently this is rare since they sleep most of the day.)
And of allllll the amazing sights and scenes, John’s very favorite was the little pile of ostrich eggs (does anyone else worry about that child?!?!)
The baby kept our entire vehicle in stitches, saying things like “I gonna pet that kitty cat” (to the lion) and (after a great squeal) “I wanna kiss that elephant.”  The kind and patient folks in the seat in front of us said that Cookie’s antics made the ride.
After countless other rides and lunch at Pizzafari, Cookie was just beside himself when he met Goofy AND Pluto at the same time.  Can you see the look of pure joy on the baby’s face?  If only I could have bottled up his squeals to share with you…  Big brother thought it was pretty cool too and loved that they signed his book.
We rode every ride to be ridden and saw every show to be seen in a jam packed, fun filled day.  My favorite attraction was Dinosaur, John’s was The Bug’s Life show and Everest, Honey’s was the aforementioned Safari and I’d venture to say that Cookie’s was the Nemo Musical and Dinosaur Dig.
We took a break from rides to catch Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade from front row seats.  The littles were literally speechless at the spectacle of their first Disney parade.

And, we wrapped up the day over a memorable dinner at The Rain Forest Café, with a waterfall next to our table and monkeys swinging overhead in the starlit sky.

Day one could not have been better!
xoxo
