Adventureland #TBT

I’m popping in with a late #tbt (throwback Thursday).  I was clearing pics off of my phone that always seems to be out of space and came across this one of Mother, Sister and I in Adventureland Walt Disney World circa 1981.

A few observations…

Mother has the most beautiful long blonde hair.

CeeCee is the spitting image of Sister.

Speaking of Sister, she looks like the favorite kid here with her cute styled hair and outfit.

Meanwhile, I look like her giant sibling with rat’s nest hair and bad shorts.

These were the days of the Adventure Ticket Books, hence the lanyard Mother is wearing.  We must have been right on the tail end of these as I believe they ended in this very year.

And, finally, when I found this pic I realized that I took a pic with my own littles 34 years later.  Whit is 5 years old here – the exact age I am in the shot above! The sign is gone, but the totem poles are still there.  Something I surely never would have dreamed at the ripe age of 5.

The love of the mouse started young, y’all.  There are many, many more where this one came from.

Now I’ve got to get din din on the table.  Thank goodness for leftovers and a crew that eats anything.

xoxo

  1. This is the most precious picture! Thank you for sharing so much of your family on your blog. I was never sure if you were the older sister.

  2. I love your Disney World posts! I’m an obsessed Disney geek and your blog is such a cool find! It mixes all of my personal interests together in one place. Keep these coming! It’s cool to have a fellow Disney loving person In blog land :)

  3. This is so too darn cute!

Amanda, is your Instagram working or have you not posted anything these last few days? My feed is stuck on your adorable pink shoes.

    1. Ahhhh it’s working but I had to work four days this week rather than my regular two. So… not a whole lot of pretty things to show. haha!

  4. Love it!!!!! Oh my word! Did you bring back memories of those ticket books. If I remember correctly, it was the E tickets that were the good rides such as Pirates or the Haunted House. By the end of the night you were usually stuck with a bunch of A tickets and finished the night with back to back to back Carousel rides!! lol I had to laugh because I have two daughters and my older one HAS to pick out her own clothes and do her own hair now. That may have been the case, that your sister was still letting momma dress and do her hair. While the final effect is not the super matchy perfect we mommas love, your momma was probably busting with pride that her little girl was becoming a young lady!!

    1. The funny thing is that I haven’t – other than this one time I don’t think. I usually don’t make it that far before finishing mine :-)

  5. You KNOW I love this. And the fact that you have a pic with your boys in the same spot, with the tiki’s still there… *this* is why we love Disney, is it not? Thanks for sharing.
