Magical Monday {Star Wars Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party + Minnie’s Halloween Dine}

We used our second Hollywood Studios day to hit favorite rides, enjoy dinner at Minnie’s Halloween Dine AND wrap up the night with the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party!!

I didn’t get the reservation for this dinner until the night before – stalking the site really does pay off!  We all enjoy the buffet at Hollywood & Vine, although it doesn’t get stellar reviews overall.  We also LOVE a good character meal and seeing them in any sort of attire outside of their day dresses.  Our dinner seating was a 4:15, right when they open and we were one of the first to be seated.  It was great because the characters came by our table 3-4 times each.  Note that they do not sign autographs at this meal or any of Minnie’s seasonal dine events.  We didn’t think that was a game changer at all though.

We were able to rejigger our fast passes to happen between dinner at fireworks the night before.  We did Tower of Terror, Frozen Sing Along and Toy Story.

When we came out of the sing along, the sun was setting.  Disney has the best sunsets!!

We got a late start to the day but were kind of tired so we just headed to Launch Bay after our last fast pass.  Chewie only had a 10 minute wait and we milled around in the Cantina before it was time for our dessert party.

The party happened right there in launch bay so it was a really cool environment for it!  The storm troopers came though our group every few minutes and were “in character”.  The tables for the party are all just for standing but we grabbed one of the few outside near Chewie and Kylo Ren that had benches lined up behind them on the wall.  It was a great set up!

I liked that they had both sweet and savory snacks and our crowd fave was the freeze-fried nutella truffle ice cream!  They dropped it right in the dry ice while you watched.  The littles thought it was pretty awesome and space like.  We were still so stuffed from our dinner even two hours later so it was poor planning to do both in one night.  I kind of figured this might happen but it was our last night and our last chance to do the dinner ;-)

There were four themed cocktails and they were okay.  I liked the Galactic Punch and thought the others were fine.  Nothing too exciting here.  They also had plenty of bottled water and canned soft drinks.

About 15 minutes prior to the fireworks show the storm troopers escorted us to our reserved viewing area.  It was a pretty neat experience!  Our area was directly in front of the Chinese Theater but behind some other crowds.  If you do this, I recommend standing at the place in the rope where they let people in and out for the best viewing.  There is a tree that gets in the way of the other area and people flood to the other good spaces right away.  We were towards the back of the crowd and lucked out with figuring out that this would be a great spot!  Inside our area they served bottled water in Chewie steins!!

The fireworks show was just stunning!!!!  They did all sorts of projections, music and special effects in addition to the pyro.  It is absolutely necessary to watch this straight on from the Chinese Theater.  Much will be lost from other vantage points.

We walked on to the Great Movie Ride after the show to avoid the mass exodus crowds after any fireworks show.  Plan worked brilliantly and it was a great end to the night.

I’m really hoping we can score Minnie’s Christmas Dine in December AND hope that they will open up more dates for the dessert party as it is a great time but currently only available through the first weekend in November.

Have a magical Monday!!

  1. They are stopping the Star Wars show for the holiday season. They have a great holiday projection show and dessert party as a new option!

  2. I was at the Vinings Home Depot this weekend getting copies of keys made. They had Disney themed keys and 2 Star Wars keys. The Minnie key included the bow and was very cute. I thought I’d pass this along in case you weren’t aware they existed.

  3. We usually go to Disney almost every summer but I am not familiar with the Minnie
    dessert bar. Where is that located?
