Trail’s End Restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness

On our last stay at Disney’s Copper Creek Villas at the Wilderness Lodge resort, we took the boat over to Fort Wilderness for some all-you-can-eat down-home American fare at Trail’s End Restaurant!

We went over a little early to explore The Settlement a bit.  This is such a fun, unique area that feels a world away from Disney. There are checker boards, hula hoops, rocking chairs and a stable.  Since we were there in the midst of a monsoon, we opted for checkers on the porch before dinner.

The rustic, cozy restaurant has a huge buffet and you can load up as much as you like during your meal.

They have a fairly unique cocktail menu, which is fun to find at a Disney resort, and the drinks are appropriately served in mason jars.

You’ll find fare like fried chicken, shrimp, soups, ribs, fish, mac and cheese, a baked potato bar, cornbread and more on the menu.  The desserts are pretty great as well!  We love the strawberry shortcake – I do believe it is the exact same as next door at Hoop Dee Doo.  In fact, I am pretty sure much of the menu is the same :-)

If you time things just right, you can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach and then catch the Electric Light Parade on your way out.  It was so drizzly that we didn’t do that this time.

Getting over to Fort Wilderness is an adventure in and of itself, and not one I’d necessarily recommend if you are not staying at Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge, Copper Creek or the Contemporary.  However, for a huge amount of good food at what has to be the best buffet price left in Disney, your really can’t go wrong with Trail’s End!

I hope y’all have a magical Monday after the long Thanksgiving break.  We are counting down to our next adventure!!

  1. We have never eaten there but I love that area. We usually end up at the castle for the kids and they all love the brunch at The Crystal Palace. Disney does it up right with the food!!! xo Diana
