Disney Social Media Moms Celebration 2018

A few months ago, I was so excited to find out I had been selected to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration again in 2018!!

The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration is an invitation-only professional conference for social media-minded moms, dads and grandparents.  We will be fortunate enough to not only enjoy the wonder and magic that lies in every Disney vacation, but we are also presented with a dynamic line-up of speakers and one-of-a-kind events designed to empower and energize in both professional endeavors and family life.

Just like last year, the conference is designed as a Disney Land and Sea Celebration. The event begins at the Walt Disney World Resort, and culminates on board Disney Cruise Line!!!!

I am frequently asked by other bloggers and moms active on social media how to sign up.  Well, there is no way to get invited, rather Disney finds you!  I do know from last year that Disney seeks influencers from a variety of backgrounds that focus on a multitude of topics.  Most are actually not frequent sharers of Disney content, in fact.  A lot of the moms I met primarily share food, cooking and recipes, and another large group shared toys and baby items.   Another tidbit I gleaned is that the size of your following does not necessarily matter.  They invite plenty of moms with just a few hundred Instagram followers, for example (and also plenty in the hundreds of thousands).  They look for engagement by real accounts and are adept at determining those built organically over time versus those that bought followers.    At the end of the day, I don’t really know how they whittle down the list to 150, but I think it boils down to hard work and a hearty dose of pixie dust :-)

American Tourister is a generous sponsor again this year and sent us this fantastic blue “Sunset Cruise” spinner carry on for our adventure.  I fired up the Cricut and added some Disney Cruise decals to make it my own.  (I will share the files soon!).

I have also finally set up my new travel focused Instagram account, Dixie Travels, to chronicle my adventures to Disney destinations and beyond.   I’ll still be sharing over at Dixie Delights, but there will be SO many more details and stories on this new page!!

With that, bon voyage!!!

  1. I look forward to following along on your new page! Also I was at Disney just over a week ago and went to the nearby Walmart for cases of water for cheerleaders and couldn’t believe the selection of Disney items! Thought about you when I saw the many leggings and such! You may already know about this but wanted to mention if you haven’t ever stopped in there. :)

  2. Hey there! I have a question. Is it a requirement to have a blog, or do they also include social media outlets like Instagram and Twitter as stand alone platforms? Thank you!

    1. I don’t know for certain but I do believe that you would want to have a blog. It is really a good idea anyway if you are building traction with social sites. The thing about the blog is that YOU own that and can control it. Sites like IG and Twitter rise and fall in popularity, have algorithms, etc. I think if there is a way to tie your social to a blog that would be fantastic! My primary focus is the blog, but lots of others were primary on IG, Twitter and even YouTube. I hope that helps!
