We’ve been eating all over the island the last week and I thought I’d share some favorites!
The Deck Beachbar and Kitchen
The Deck is the only true beachfront restaurant on Tybee! We’ve been twice now and loved our meals both times. Once for brunch (weekends only) and once for dinner. The decor is beachy, but nice and the view is unbeatable. The food is excellent and the cocktails are very good as well. You can make a reservation here and I recommend doing so, especially at prime dinner times in the summer. (these pics from brunch)
Spanky’s is a Savannah (and Tybee) institution. It’s very casual. If you go, just get chicken fingers, spuds and honey!! They are all so good. Everything else is just okay, in my opinion. The drinks are just so-so, so stick with beer and wine. I find an ice cold Coca-Cola goes best.
Papa’s Bar-B-Que and Seafood
Papa’s Bar-B-Que and Seafood is actually located on Whitmarsh Island, between town and Tybee. It’s definitely worth picking up on your way to the beach or if you head in to town for a day. I personally LOVE their grilled shrimp, hush puppies, potato salad, slaw and fried okra. The fried shrimp are equally as good, and the bbq is as well!
Seaside Sweets is a tiny little candy and ice cream shop on the main drag. Doesn’t every beach town need one of these?! My kids love the self serve jars by the pound. They also have a small selection of novelty candy and drinks in addition to a fun assortment of ice cream flavors!
