Everything You Need To Know About Toy Story Land

When we were in Disney World last month we spent a day playing in Hollywood Studios brand new Toy Story Land!!

First things first, we stopped for a photo in front of the Chinese Theater.  Add this as a “must” to any Hollywood Studios day!

Andy’s Back Yard

The entrance to Toy Story Land is located between the old Toy Story Midway Mania entrance and Animation Courtyard.  You’ll know you’re there when you shrink to the size of a toy and everything around you is larger than life!!  Toy Story Land itself is small and easy to navigate.  And, it is absolutely darling!!  All of your favorite childhood toys are here.  My sole complaint is that it is HOT back here – a lot of concrete and not a lot of shade.  But, you’ll be so wooed by the nostalgic toys that create the land you will hardly notice. :-)

The Pixar Ball

In addition to rides, there are a few key “photo” stops.  First is the giant Pixar ball.  You could snap a pic OR, if you’re my child, you will insist on flossing instead.

Roaming Army Men

The army men were one of my favorite parts of the old Pixar Place and they are even more out and about than ever in Toy Story Land!  Stop and interact with these guys – that’s what they are here for.  They are some of the funniest characters you’ll find in the parks and you don’t have to wait in line to see them!

Woody’s Lunch Box

Next up is Woody’s Lunch Box.  This new quick serve location got a unanimous thumbs up from my crew.  We tried a LOT of things on the menu between my three ravenous boys.  Our collective favorite was the Totchos (tater tot nachos loaded with chili, cheese, sour cream and onions).  We also loved the grilled cheese with side of tomato soup and enjoyed the BBQ brisket melt.  Our favorite dessert choice was hands down the Raspberry Lunch Box Tart.  Yum!!  The breakfast menu has a s’mores french toast sandwich that I’m dying to try if I can ever get my family to the park in time for breakfast.  All meals here count as one quick serve credit on the Disney Dining Plan and I think it is the very best way to use that credit in this park!

Alien Swirling Saucers

Toy Story Land is home to THREE awesome rides.  First is Alien Swirling Saucers.  This is a great ride for the little ones, with just enough thrill to keep it entertaining.

Slinky Dog Dash

Slinky Dog Dash took over from Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom for my family’s number 1 ride in the entire Walt Disney World Resort!!  On a thrill scale, I put it between Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Big Thunder Mountain.  It is very smooth and a whole lot of fun.  We were in the park right after the land opened and had no problem getting a FastPass.  Since then I fear word got out.  :-) This has become the absolute hardest FastPass to get, even at 60 days out on the nose.  I have seen zero availability for it when looking for clients with trips under 5 nights long, and very limited availability even for clients with week long trips.  But, don’t despair, wait times have not been terrible.  I frequently hear stories of it being just 45 minutes even when it is posted as 60-75.  I still recommend getting to the park before opening to do it stand-by.

Toy Story Midway Mania

Toy Story Midway Mania got a new entrance when the new land opened.  It is really cute and this ride is still an absolute favorite.  I failed to get a great photo, so here is a peek at the concept art (courtesy of Disney Parks).  It looks just like this!

Popsicle Wall and Checker Board Wall

Now, the other two key photo opps are at the exit of Toy Story Midway Mania.  Photo walls in Disney are ALL the rage right now.  This is the Popsicle wall.  Super cute, right?!

And, just across from the Popsicle wall is the checkerboard wall.  Not quite as cute, but perfect with my outfit this day.  HA!

Meet Buzz, Woody & Jessie

Buzz, Woody and Jessie are out to meet their friends in the new Toy Story Land!  We saw Woody and Jessie meeting together and Buzz on his own.  (another Disney Parks photo)

We love this new addition to Hollywood Studios and cannot even imagine how awesome (and crowded) this park will be when Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opens in 2019!!

Have a magical day!!!
