To wrap up my little series on our Montage Palmetto Bluff getaway, I’m back today to talk about dining! There is everything you could want – from a quick bite to fine dining overlooking the May River and we couldn’t possibly eat it all in a long weekend. After a little research, here’s where we decided on…
Octagon Porch
We left Atlanta around 2:00 PM on the Friday of Labor Day weekend. The boys were starving by the time we hit Macon, so we stopped to eat. By the time we got to Palmetto Bluff we weren’t starving, but knew we needed a snack to make it through the night. Octagon Porch was fantastic for a casual but delicious stop on arrival. No reservations were necessary and it is conveniently located right in the Inn. While the boys opted for larger meals, I just had this amazing appetizer of fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese. Indulgent and delicious. On our last morning we luxuriated over brunch on the porch!
Coffee in the Inn
I get up hours before the rest of my family and enjoyed quiet mornings sipping on coffee in the library, also at the Inn. Coffee and tea is set up each morning in the lobby and is complimentary.
Buffalo’s
Mother and Daddy-O drove over for lunch on our first full day. We all enjoyed our meal at Buffalo’s. They have a charming patio but since it was drizzly, we dined on an even more charming screened porch in front of a fireplace!
End of Summer Backyard Bash
I mentioned in my previous posts that Montage goes ALL out for holidays! We reserved space at the End of Summer Backyard Bash for our first night. The weather moved the event inside but it was top notch nonetheless. They had live music, games and burger bar and all the fixings.
Fore & Aft
Fore & Aft is located at the Inn pool and was also a hit. The food was more delicious than any pool food I’ve had! We absolutely would have eaten here every day if needed!
Canoe Club
Finally, Honey and I enjoyed a night out at Canoe Club. This gorgeous restaurant is located on top of the actual canoe club and has spectacular views of the river from both sides. Our meal was equally as perfect as the setting. I highly recommend advance reservations for Canoe Club as it is small and dinners seemed to take a while. There was a line for the bar seats 30 minutes before the Canoe Club even opened! Definitely do the table-side ahi tuna for an appetizer!
