Fantasmic! Dessert & VIP Viewing Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Well, this year flew by so fast, I am just now reviewing the Fantasmic! Dessert & VIP Viewing Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We attended this for the first time in JANUARY (!!!) for my friend J’s 40th birthday half marathon celebration weekend.

This “experience” consists of a snack tray and reserved viewing for the Fantasmic! show. It is offered nightly.

On arrival at the Fantasmic! theater, you pick up your snack plates. I thought the offering had a nice variety of sweet and salty treats for both adults and kids. Everyone enjoyed the chocolate covered strawberries, macaroons, and cheese and crackers. The kids loved the make your own “worms and dirt” pudding.

Everyone also receives a light up souvenir cup with a specialty drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). The drink was syrupy sweet and not very good, to be honest.

After you pick up your food, you are sent to a reserved seating area for the show. The roped off section for this event is in the center of the theater, but back behind other reserved seating areas. Seats within the section are first come first serve, and we ended up pretty far in the back. When you book the experience, you get a reservation time for your arrival that can be anywhere from 90 minutes prior to to the show to 45 minutes prior to the show. Ours was closer to the 45 minute return window, thus why the section was already so full. That being said, I see no point in sitting in that theater for 90 minutes waiting on the show to start. I’m not sure one is any better than the other.

One overall challenge I had with this event is that it is dark in the theater and you are seated on stadium style benches. Balancing snack trays, drinks and kids in the dark during the show was not entirely enjoyable. The price tag on this experience is $39 per person age 10+ and $19 for ages 3-9. While it is significantly less than the other dessert parties around the resort, I’d save for one of those rather than taking this route. Or, I’d get a pretty fantastic meal for that amount. My favorites dessert parties are Happily Ever After in Magic Kingdom and Star Wars in Hollywood Studios (if you are lucky enough to have a trip during what seems to be increasingly limited offerings windows!).

With that, I’m signing off! I’m in Houston today for an Adventures by Disney meeting!
