Three years ago today, I embarked on a new adventure as an independent consultant with Glass Slipper Concierge, an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner!! After nineteen years in corporate America, my “second career” is a breath of fresh air, a lot of hard work and endlessly satisfying. Most days I wake up thinking “I can’t believe I get paid to talk about Disney ALL day!” It really is my work dream come true.
While the move was not without growing pains, I sit here today overwhelmed with pride in the small business I built and gratitude to all of YOU that have followed along, shared my information with friends and family AND trusted your own family vacations to me. It is such a treat every time I open an email or consult form from one of you that starts “I read your blog…” and it has been so incredible to finally get to know so many of you through travel.
Since embarking on this journey, I have learned so much and worked harder than I’ve ever worked in my life. (I started working at 15 and never stopped!) In the last three years, I have planned over 400 magical vacations to the Walt Disney World Resort and almost 150 voyages on Disney Cruise Line. I’ve sent countless families to the Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Paris, Disney Aulani in Hawaii, SeaWorld and Universal. Some of my favorites have been my Adventures by Disney travelers, which have visited Italy, Norway, Ireland, South Africa, Scotland, England and France!
This past October I was promoted to Premier Advisor, the pinnacle of professional achievement at Glass Slipper Concierge. This was something I worked extremely hard to achieve and is a title given to very few for providing the highest level of customer service, experience, and knowledge in the industry. Again, while I worked tirelessly to get here, I couldn’t have done it without YOU! <3
The Glass Slipper team is the hardest working group I’ve ever known, but they’ve also perfected living the luxury travel life! :-) We all work hard, but I’d be lying if I said we didn’t play hard too! And, the perks for our own personal travels are also fantastic. I’ve made some unbelievable friends in this business, that share a passion for travel and Disney. I’m in good company for sure!
Up until February, when the questions started surfacing about coronavirus, my job was magical and joyful and a pinch-me-now kind of experience. The hours were long and the itineraries were like putting together a 500 piece puzzle without a picture. But, at the end of each day, I’d say to myself “I built this,” “I did this,” and “I’m proud of this.” Navigating the world shut down and pause in travel has been a challenge I never saw coming, and one I pray my clients would say I navigated with grace, understanding and sensibility. I stayed up so many nights thinking “I hope I did that right,” “I hope I handled that okay,” and “I hope I didn’t disappoint them.” I have undone countless plans and much anticipated trips for my clients in the past few months, often sitting on long holds for upwards of six hour each and every day to get the very best resolution possible. Believe me, every one saddened me as much as it did you.
As I’m sure you know, the Walt Disney World Resort begins reopening starting July 11! I am sooooo ready to get back to making magic for my clients. With the reopening, some aspects of planning a Disney vacation will look different and the experience itself will be different too. As always, I will meticulously plan and curate every aspect of my client’s Disney vacations, striking the perfect balance between attractions, experiences, resort relaxation and spending quality time together to make priceless memories. I remember many years ago when my boss at Coke gave me the professional feedback that I needed to be more adaptable. I didn’t forget that, and I’ve relied on those adaptability skills more in the last three months than ever. :-)

Congratulations on a well deserved promotion! My heart goes out to so many travel professionals whose jobs have come to a stand still during COVID. It will be very interesting to see the new guidelines that Disney and other theme parks will be implementing
