Whit and I played hooky for a few days in mid-April and headed down to Universal Orlando for some fun in the Florida sun. We spent two days hopping between Universal Orlando and Islands of Adventure and the third day at Volcano Bay Water Theme Park.
While the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is what brings many of my clients (and my own family) to Universal Orlando, the parks are full of thrill rides and entertainment! Keep in mind that I write detailed itineraries for all of my clients so that they don’t miss a thing!
Islands of Adventure
At Marvel Super Hero Island, you step into the world of your favorite comics. Hulk is one of the best coasters out there! Guests can meet Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, and other superheroes throughout the day. Key attractions include:
- The Incredible Hulk Coaster
- Storm Force Accelatron
- Doctor Doom’s Fearfall
- The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man
Toon Lagoon is home to a lot of characters from the past, and some great water rides, our favorite being Ripsaw Falls. You will get drenched! Main attractions include:
- Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges
- Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls
- The Olive water play area for younger guests
Skull Island is home to Reign of Kong, another fun thrill ride!
Jurassic Park is a favorite for my family and my clients! We absolutely love the River Adventure and meeting Blue the velociraptor. Highlights:
- Camp Jurassic
- Pteranodon Flyers
- Jurassic Park River Adventure
Jurassic World VelociCoaster opens next month but is already running previews!!
Lost Continent is home to our favorite Universal theme park restaurant – Mythos – and the Mystic Fountain.
Seuss Landing is absolutely darling and where young guests will spend their day! We usually skip the rides here but can’t resist smiling as we scoot through!
Universal Studios
Production Central is the first area you enter, and is home to a number of popular attractions.
- Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
- Shrek 4D
- Rip Ride Rockit!
- TRANSFORMERS: The Ride – 3D
Hollywood has a few not-to-be missed shows. Over in the KidZone, ET Adventure is a nostalgic and well done family ride.
Springfield: Home of The Simpsons! is such a fun themed area with food, characters, shopping and a ride! We love the tacos at Bumblebee Man’s for a nice snack.
At World Expo, Men in Black is one of our top rides at Universal! We usually do it back to back to back with Express Pass and are quite competitive with our scores!
Over in San Francisco you’ll find Fast & Furious: Supercharged. And, in New York, don’t miss Revenge of the Mummy or Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.
In addition to normal rides, shows, attractions, entertainment and dining, you will also find fantastic seasonal festivals and events. We caught Mardi Gras on this trip. Universal also does Halloween Horror Nights and a wonderful Christmas celebration!
Fun characters are found throughout the parks.
Universal is so enjoyable to walk around and Express Pass means very little waiting in line!
