Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin Kitchen in Disney Springs

We have booked and then cancelled Homecomin Kitchen so.many.times. over the years! I’ll think we want to spend a night in Disney Springs until we get to Disney and don’t want to leave the parks or resort. Since we were staying at Saratoga Springs on our last visit, which connects to Disney Springs via walking path, I knew we’d finally cross this one off our Disney dining bucket list!

Homecomin’ is a Walt Disney World restaurant paying homage to Florida’s rich agricultural heritage by highlighting local ingredients and farm-to-table cuisine. So come over, sip a handcrafted moonshine cocktail on our back porch and enjoy the bubbling springs backdrop.

We were excited to get a table right by the springs. We started with moonshine cocktails… you know, when in Rome. I was having a hard time picking and asked for the “most popular”. This is the Strawberry Lemonade – strawberry moonshine, freshly muddled strawberries, lemonade and strawberry purée. It was really light and refreshing!

We completely gorged at this meal and WAY over ordered. Everything was just divine and we couldn’t help ourselves. We all liked the Church Lady Deviled Eggs, but I make a great deviled egg at home if I do say so myself. :-) Therefore, the Bunch of Puppies was the favorite for us!! These house-made hushpuppies are served with pimento cheese and red jalapeño jelly. I highly recommend if you’re only picking one!

John and I both enjoyed Art’s Famous Fried Chicken – buttermilk-brined for 24 hours then perfectly fried and served with creamy mashed potatoes, a cheddar drop biscuit and love. I asked for all breast meat, with John going for the real deal. Everything on the plate was perfection! Honey had the Country Fried Steak and reported back that it too was excellent. Whit chose the Fried Chicken Sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was honestly the best “Southern” meal we’ve had in recent memory.

In hind sight, we easily could have shared two meals between the four of us! Alas, we took our doggie bags back home to the treehouse and had lunch the next day.

We continued the feeding frenzy by sharing a slice of Art’s famous Hummingbird Cake. Again, nothing but rave reviews from the family on this.

We had the great fortune to meet Art and his family on a Disney Cruise in 2018! He was so personable and a deep love of Disney came through with every word. He told us his story of “growing up Disney” and honestly had a tear in his eye when he explained how this restaurant was his “homecoming”. I loved taking in every word and detail on the gallery wall in the restaurant. It was full of great photos and memorabilia.

No matter how far his travels have taken him – from being Oprah’s personal chef to opening four incredible restaurants across the country – Celebrity Chef Art Smith calls Florida home. Now, Chef Art has returned to share his farm fresh Florida dishes with you.

Advance reservations here are a must! In the ten minutes we waited to be seated, we saw at least ten parties walk up to try for a table. If a moonshine cocktail is on your list, you can walk up to the Shine Bar for that!

While it takes some real motivation for me to get over to Disney Springs, I never regret it. It always has spectacular sunsets and a fun vibe.

I highly, highly recommend Homeomin Kitchen for sit down dining at Disney. Our food, service and experience were excellent and we will definitely be back! Next time we’ll order half the amount of food. :-)
