Baltimore {Stay: Sagamore Pendry Hotel}

We are headed home from a fabulous long weekend in Baltimore, Maryland! John’s lacrosse team had a tournament outside of the city and we came in a little early and stayed a little late to explore Charm City. I left my laptop charger at home and that foiled my plan to write blog posts as we went. Alas, I’ll start with our absolutely lovely stay at Sagamore Pendry Boutique Hotel.

I have loved booking clients here at Sagamore Pendry in my few years as a travel advisor, and was thrilled to get to see it for myself!

Poised in the storied 1914 property on Baltimore’s historic Recreation Pier – “Rec Pier” as it’s known to locals – Sagamore Pendry Baltimore embodies the city’s rich history, vibrant personality and idyllic harbor setting with character, inspiration and style. Rooted in tradition but reimagined, the pier’s extensive renovation has honored the historic essence of the property and restored it to its former glory, reflecting a bygone era, impeccable service, unparalleled quality and travel that inspires, but with a modern-day sensibility and aesthetic that speaks to today’s guest.

Being the birthplace of the Star Spangled Banner, we saw more flags in Baltimore than any place I can recall. It took me seeing the lobby art twice to realize it was the lyrics to our national anthem!

We stayed in a Harbor Balcony One Bedroom Suite and barely wanted to leave for our sightseeing! The living room was spacious and welcoming with a sofa, desk, bar and powder bath. It’s amazing how much that extra half bath is used for a family of four.

The bedroom had a luxurious king sized bed in which I slept like a baby. :-) The bathroom was also huge.

A balcony ran the length of our suite with comfy seating for three and spectacular views!

The pool features an outdoor seasonal bar and grill for dining, lounging and cocktails set waterfront on the Inner Harbor. The deck is perched at the end of Recreation Pier with panoramic views of the harbor, marina and city skyline. We were all in awe of the infinity effect straight into the harbor! There are five cabanas that can be rented as well. We didn’t plan to have an afternoon at the pool, but let me tell you, Baltimore is HOT!

Rec Pier Chop House is located just off of the lobby and was a lovely place for morning coffee and evening cocktails! We waited out a rain storm from Elsa for a few hours one evening as the sun set and it was just lovely.

The Cannon Room was not open but we took a peek inside this American whiskey bar. We had to see the cannon in the floor from those that lived beneath Recreation Pier for centuries

The lush, semi-enclosed courtyard was another showstopper, complete with fireplaces, lounge seating, champagne vending and dramatic lighting
