Celebrating Easter {Palm Sunday & Resurrection Rolls}

Our favorite, most enduring Easter tradition is talking about the Easter story while making “resurrection rolls” on Palm Sunday. I meant to share this earlier so y’all could prepare for tomorrow, but there should still be time to pick up these basic ingredients!

Resurrection Rolls

3 tubes crescent dough (to make 24 rolls)
package of large marshmallows
1/2 stick of butter, melted
bowl of cinnamon and sugar mixture

1. Lay all of the ingredients out and preheat oven to 400.

2. Give each little their allotment of large marshmallows.  Explain that the marshmallow represents Jesus, our sweet savior.

3. Have them generously coat the marshmallow in the melted butter.  Tell them that this represents the embalming oils.

4. Next roll the marshmallow in the cinnamon and sugar mixture, to represent the spices used to anoint the body.

5. Help them tightly wrap each marshmallow in a triangle of crescent dough.  This step signifies the wrapping of Jesus’ body after death. Repeat the process for the rest of your rolls, racing to finish before all the marshmallows have been eaten.  This year we used well greased muffin tins – one for each roll.

7. Bake for 10 minutes, until browned and puffed.

8. Remove from oven and serve.  Have the kids break open their roll to find it empty inside!  He is RISEN!!

Happy Holy Week. <3
