50’s Prime Time Cafe + Tune-In Lounge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

I just love Hollywood Studios – the atmosphere, the vibe, the music, the decor. I always look forward to a day here! On a trip this summer, Whit picked the Tune-In Lounge and 50’s Prime Time Cafe for lunch for two. They are old stand-bys and places we have frequented over the years.

Tune-In Lounge

Let’s start with the Tune-In Lounge.  The retro living room type space is well themed and you don’t need a reservation to pop in for a cold drink on a hot day.

I love the Brady Bunch vibe in here and always think a themed space is a good idea at Disney! We like to beat the heat by stopping for some 50’s TV while enjoying our cold beverage, but you are welcome to take it to go as well.

A full bar is available but, sadly, you can no longer pop in for milkshakes.

50’s Prime Time Cafe

Tune In Lounge adjoins 50’s Prime Time Cafe!   Inside you’ll find classic American comfort food, ’50s kitsch and good old-fashioned family fun.

It’s a blast from the past when you walk into this all-American eatery themed like “Mom’s” kitchen.

We’ve had so much fun over the years in this completely immersive environment, pulling up vinyl chairs to the Formica table and tucking into hearty home cooking.

Our “cousin” waitress always makes sure everyone minds their manners.  She’ll give a stern talking-to anyone with devices at the table!

But don’t despair, the TV at your retro table plays circa 1955 black-and-white clips from popular prime-time shows!

It is an absolute must for us to split a couple of Peanut Butter & Jelly Milkshakes to start. Cousin doesn’t get tooooo on to ya about dessert before supper.

As far as the food, well, we always enjoy it! It’s reliable, down home comfort food. Our favorites are the onion rings, wedge salad, meatloaf (Honey), pot roast (me) and fried chicken (boys). If you can’t decide, try the sampler for all the faves.

The only thing I’ve had here that I didn’t like was the chicken pot pie. The chicken was dark and fatty.

I don’t know about y’all, but I could really go for a hot meal from Mom’s kitchen right about now. Just a few more days until I’ll be doing just that. :-)
