Universal Orlando {Bonus Day & Departures}

The seniors were thrilled to find out we had two boxes of VooDoo Doughnuts waiting for breakfast before their long ride home. I thought we had overbought, but not a scrap was left. Honey had them loaded up and on the road at 7AM.

Whit and I were on a 12PM flight home, but that was delayed before 7AM and then outright cancelled by 8:15AM. We were rebooked on a 9:20PM flight with no alternatives. And so… we got a bonus day!! We lingered at the hotel until checkout and then did lunch at Hard Rock’s table serve restaurant The Kitchen. We dined on the verandah and it was lovely and tasty. The food outside of the parks is SO much better than inside.

Not knowing how long of a day we had ahead of us, we took the water taxi to CityWalk and started in Islands of Adventure. We did the 75 minute wait for Hagrid’s, which was totally worth it. We love that ride so much! Afterwards, we got Butterbeers to take on the Hogwarts Express to Universal Studios. Over there we did Men in Black (again… it’s a fave), saw the Hollywood Horror Makeup Show, the Animal Actors on Location Show AND The Bourne Stuntacular. All were well done and thoroughly enjoyable. Having more time to kill, we did an early dinner back at Antojitos!

We got to the airport around 7:30 for our 9:20 PM flight, only to have that delayed again. We finally made it home sometime in the middle of the night (seriously… it was pretty horrid) BUT we got to sleep in our own beds!

It was such a joy to host these boys to a weekend of FUN, food and friends. We can’t wait to do the same for Whit in a few years. <3

  1. As a mom of two young boys, I LOVE reading about your relationship with your sons and their friends (I clocked away that “tip” on having the policy of when they dine with you, you pay for them, I love that). Please continue sharing how you’ve nurture this bond with your boys as they’ve grown up, I am soaking up all the wisdom and advice I can get and you have such a beautiful way of sharing it.
