Cafe Orleans in Disneyland Park

Right in the heart of New Orleans Square in Disneyland Park you will find Cafe Orleans. I absolutely love this unique land and wandering the little alley ways and shops. The restaurant primarily offers outdoor seating, with a few tables located indoors, as is common with most Disneyland eateries.

Cafe Orleans opened with the New Orleans Square in 1966, originally going by the name of Creole Café. For the focal point, Walt Disney chose an ice cream counter inspired by The Happiest Millionaire as well as an antique espresso machine purchased by him and his wife Lilly in Italy. We were delighted to see that this espresso machine remains in Cafe Orleans today.

With dark woods, paintings and photos lining the walls, and beautiful stained glass, the inside dining area feels like an upscale cafe. It was a rainy night, so we sat indoors, but the patio ambiance cannot be beat with its picturesque views of the Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia gliding by on the Rivers of America!

Cafe Orleans offers casual fare with a French Quarter flare. We started with the Gumbo (me) and Burrata & Prosciutto (Sister). Both were great, but the gumbo stole the show!

Cafe Orleans is most known for the Disneyland fan-favorite Monte Cristo! Adapted from the classic French croque-monsieur sandwich, this turkey, ham and Swiss cheese delight is dusted with powdered sugar and served with seasonal preserves. The only acceptable side is the garlicky parmesan Pommes Frites and Cajun spice rémoulade. We shared the entree and were plenty full.

CeeCee enjoyed the Bayou Punch, complete with gummy alligator!

I think Cafe Orleans is one of the better sit down meal options in Disneyland!
