Wine Bar George is the only Master Sommelier-led wine bar in Florida, and I had the pleasure of dining in twice last month! Honey and I did a date night one evening, and then I returned with two of my travel besties for lunch later in the week. Between the two visits, I got to try most everything on the menu and am excited to share this fabulous option with you today.
The brainchild of Master Sommelier George Miliotes, Wine Bar George masterfully pairs food and wine. I’ve had the opportunity to meet George twice since the opened Wine Bar George, and he is the kindest most unassuming human. Part of the opening team of the California Grill restaurant at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, he became one of 279 Master Sommeliers in the world by passing a series of rigorous examinations that require a candidate to identify wines by taste, aroma and sight.
The restaurant space is beautiful, with outstanding views of Disney Springs from the upper balcony. Guests enter on the lower level into the wine bar – a bustling spot designed to pop in for a glass. Wine Bar George offers more than 200 wines by the glass, bottle AND the ounce! You will also enjoy a full menu of small plates, cheese and charcuterie, entrées, family style plates and more.
Upstairs are two dining rooms, an outdoor verandah and a private room, as well as a second bar!
It was WAY too hot in July to dine outside, but you better believe I’ll be back for a glass with this view come fall!
Now, on to the menu! On our date night, we thoroughly enjoyed working with the staff to choose a few wines to try. I learned that I enjoy floral wines! Who knew?! In fact, The World of Fine Wine recently awarded Wine Bar George with the Best Wine Bar List in the world! Judged according to a rigorous protocol by leading professionals, including World Champion Sommeliers, Master Sommeliers, Masters of Wine and highly respected wine writers, The World of Fine Wine seeks to recognize the best wine lists globally.
For brunch with the ladies, we all enjoyed the cocktail Wine Bar George is known for – Frozcato Dole Whip! It was every bit as delightful as it sounds.
For date night, we tried so many amazing things on the menu, and made a long evening of it. Our favorites were the Crispy Mac & Cheese and Grilled Ribeye.
For lunch, I was excited to see a different menu. Our top two were the burrata and blt+C.
While I enjoyed Wine Bar George on both visits with just adults, kids are welcome too! They do offer a kid’s menu and have all the usual Disney accommodations.
