Kansas Getaway {All the Other Things!}

Our trip to Wichita was short and sweet, with the highlight being our day at Tanganyika Wildlife Park.

We left ATL on Friday after school after enjoying a yummy dinner at One Flew South. At this point, Whit still didn’t know where we were going! When we arrived at the gate he thought we were pulling his leg. He couldn’t imagine what surprise awaited in Kansas.

Hotel at Old Town

We stayed at Hotel at Old Town. I wanted a place that would be walkable to restaurants and this one delivered.

Old Town Farmer’s Market

Saturday morning we were delighted to find the Farmer’s Market set up at Old Town! We shopped around for breakfast treats and snacks for the day. Everything we enjoyed was AMAZING! The weather was our first taste of fall and absolutely perfect.

Georges French Bistro

I received a few dinner recommendations on Instagram and 4 of the 7 were for Georges! It was so charming inside, the service was excellent and our meal was delicious.

The guys both did steak frites and I went for the scallops.

Since the Wildlife Park was his early 16 birthday gift, we embraced that celebration at dinner too!

HomeGrown

We had most of the day Sunday to spend at Wichita. We took a morning walk to HomeGrown for a yummy breakfast.

Orie’s Garlic Festival

We were delighted to find Orie’s Garlic Festival set up at Old Town and spent our afternoon browsing, tasting and enjoying live music.

We began our journey home in the early evening!

It was a fun, special getaway!

  1. Amanda,
    I’ve enjoyed your blog for years and live in Wichita! I’m thrilled you had a good experience while you were here. We did George’s for our daughter’s sweet 16 as well!
