Universal Orlando {Sapphire Falls Resort}

We stayed at Universal Orlando’s Sapphire Falls Resort a couple of weekends ago and a new review is in order. This moderate level resort is an island paradise just a short distance from all of the fun and adventure in the theme parks.

From the stone turret in the lobby to the inviting charm of each room and suite, you’re surrounded by a vivid and textured haven that is inspired by landmarks of the islands. Blue waterfalls cascade over lush grounds and in the distance, the calming sounds of steel drums call you to take in the scenic views, ease into island time and let go.

Benefits of staying at a Universal Orlando Resort

There are valuable benefits to staying on-site at a Universal Orlando resort hotel.  When staying at Portofino Bay, all guests receive the following.  (These benefits also apply to Hard Rock and Royal Pacific.)

Early Park Admission
Visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ and Universal’s Volcano Bay™ one hour before the theme park opens with paid theme park admission.

Get There Faster
Enjoy complimentary transportation to the theme parks and Universal CityWalk™.

*This resort does not include complimentary Express Pass, which is a HUGE perk of Portofino Bay, Hard Rock and Royal Pacific. We purchased our Express Pass as an add on to our tickets. I help all of my clients navigate this based on the size of their travel party and length of stay.

Dining at Sapphire Falls Resort

Sapphire Falls has dining covered, with a variety of sit down, grab and go and pool side options.

Amatista Cookhouse

This coastal-chic eatery features an exhibition kitchen cooking up Caribbean-inspired cuisine for every island appetite. We ate breakfast here twice and it was delicious! There is a buffet and menu option. One thing about Universal… you really only need to rope drop one day. You can sleep in and enjoy breakfast on the others. (When you have Express Pass.)

Strong Water Tavern

Strong Water Tavern popular with guests from across the resort, featuring vintage rums, your own rum specialist and tapas-style dining. I’ve been here four times and enjoyed every single one!

New Dutch Trading Co

Choose from craft sandwiches, freshly brewed coffee, pastries and more at this port shop.

Room Service

Whether you want breakfast in bed or crave an evening snack, you’ll find a wide variety of menu options to choose from… even something for your furry friends! There is nothing more decadent than room service.

Pool

The hotel’s 16,000-square-foot pool with a sand beach spells fun and relaxation, as does the hot tub, cabanas (for rent), water slide, children’s play area, fire pit and more. Poolside activities include ping pong tournaments, water balloon tosses, hula hoop contests, an outdoor pool table and more. Located poolside, Drhum Club Kantine offers a delightful menu focusing on fresh seafood and taste-tempting tropical drinks.

Getting Around

Getting to the parks couldn’t be easier with the water taxi service. You can also walk, but it’s a long one!

Hospitality Suite

There are a variety of room and suite options, offering something for every family. With a separate dining area, spacious living area, kitchenette, luxurious full bath and bedroom this 1,353 square feet Hospitality Suite will be the setting for many great memories.

Kid Suite

The kids suite is one of my favorites, both for the space and the darling decor. The two separate rooms are connecting and feature a single entrance to the adult room. The children’s room opens only into the adult’s room, and not into the hallway. There is a king in the adult room and two twins in the kid room.

2 Queen Room

The standard room is small but bright, clean and super comfy!
