Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of being among the first to experience Universal Orlando’s newest theme park: Epic Universe! I spent two full days exploring every “epic” corner, soaking it all in, and gathering plenty of tips, tricks, and insider insights to share with my clients.
After the bright and cheerful portal of Super Nintendo World, today we step into the shadows of Dark Universe.
This is a moody, mysterious land where classic monsters are reimagined for a new generation. With its eerie village streets, crackling lightning, and foreboding sounds, this land feels like walking straight into a gothic horror story. From the legendary Dr. Frankenstein’s Manor to the untamed creatures that lurk beyond, every corner is packed with chilling details, thrilling encounters, and immersive storytelling.
Attractions in Dark Universe
For a thrilling encounter straight from the pages of gothic legend, enter Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. As the story goes, Dr. Victoria Frankenstein continues the work of her ancestors deep below the family estate. A demonstration of her experiments to control monsters goes awry when Dracula leads a revolt of enraged monsters including The Wolf Man, The Mummy, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and more. The queue was just as good as the ride!
If you’re craving an adrenaline rush, Curse of the Werewolf delivers. This spinning family coaster races through the woods of Darkmoor, where the legend of the werewolf comes to life. It’s not scary monster-wise, but is quite thrilling as it is fast and spins at the same time. Don’t worry…. it’s about a 30 second experience. :-)
During your visit to Darkmoor Village, you will likely meet a few of its inhabitants, including Frankenstein’s Monster and his Bride, Ygor and The Invisible Man. They’re all part of the storytelling, interacting with guests and each other to make the land feel alive…. and a little on edge.

Capture a tasty bite at The Burning Blade Tavern, where Darkmoor Village’s monster hunters catch and display their monstrous trophies. After two visits, I can attest to the fact that this is a must visit!
De Lacey’s Cottage
Near Frankenstein Manor sits De Lacey’s Cottage where you can refresh yourself with a variety of snacks and cool treats
Darkmoor Village After Dark
As night falls, the village of Darkmoor glows with eerie lighting, shadows dance across crumbling facades, and the chilling soundscape intensifies. The fog creeps in, the monsters feel a little closer, and every detail takes on a more dramatic quality. If you’re brave enough, I highly recommend making this your final stop of the night.
