We did our annual photos with Kimberly Mitchell this summer, and I love them so, so much. This is a tradition that will be hard to let go of when the boys eventually outgrow it, but for now they are still fairly willing participants. They all know how much it means to me!
This year we tried something new and took them at the Contemporary Resort. I had honestly put this location off for years, thinking it just wasn’t as pretty as others. But I have to admit – I love how they turned out!
When the boys were little, professional photos were, if I’m honest, a bit torturous. Outfit battles, attention spans, and meltdowns made for some interesting memories. Even now, as teens, not every moment is all smiles and sunshine… but let’s just say Kim has the patience of a saint and a knack for capturing the magic in between the eye rolls and snaps.
Year after year after year, she beautifully captures our family, and I’m so grateful for her talent (and perseverance with my crew).
Every year I choose a favorite Disney quote to include in the photo book I make from our session. This year’s came from Dory:
When I look at you, I can feel it. I look at you, and I’m home.
With John living in Auburn, this one hits close to home. I adore the house we’ve built over decades: a place my family loves to return to. But “home” is also now in Auburn, in Disney World, or really anywhere we can be together.
And this year, Kim was SO KIND to bring one of my visions to life…. arriving with giant gold 5-0 balloons to mark Honey’s milestone birthday in our photos. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the session all the more special.
We finished up just as the sun was setting over Magic Kingdom!
