Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Flora Taverna is a stunning Mediterranean-inspired restaurant located inside Helios Grand Hotel at Universal’s Epic Universe. With its bright, airy atmosphere, open kitchen, wood-fired pizza oven, live-cooking stations, and gorgeous park views, it’s a beautiful spot for any meal of the day.
Whether you dine indoors or al fresco, the setting is chef’s kiss. The ambiance is refined yet relaxed, with exceptional service to match. Reservations are recommended, but walk ups are welcome, and we found it very convenient as hotel guests.
Breakfast at Flora Taverna
Breakfast at Flora Taverna was a standout – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The Sunrise Breakfast buffet is a decadent spread offering:
- Artisanal pastries
- Made-to-order omelets
- Golden pancakes
- Fresh fruit salads
- Charcuterie
- Eggs, bacon, roasted vegetables
- Fresh juices, coffee, and fine teas
We also ordered two dishes from the à la carte menu, and both were great:
Shawarma Spiced Beef Hash
Poached cage-free egg, locally grown tomato, charred onion, roasted potatoes, zhug
→ Warm, hearty, and full of spice and savory flavor – Whit loved it!
Avocado Toast
Poached cage-free egg, labneh, salsa verde, confit tomato, shaved red onion
→ I’m a self proclaimed avo toast connoisseur and while it wasn’t the best ever, it was quite good!
Breakfast here feels is a luxurious way to start your day… whether you’re headed into the parks or headed home.
Dinner at Flora Taverna
We returned for dinner and loved it just as much. We chose indoor seating, though the outdoor patio overlooking Epic Universe is a gorgeous option for sunset dining. The bar area is also stunning and offers lighter bites and drinks.
Here’s what we enjoyed:
Freshly Baked Focaccia
Served warm with Greek olive oil and Sabra
→ Soft, flavorful, and the perfect start. $3 charge
Black Angus Beef Tenderloin Kebab
Chântel Farms, Georgia • Gremolata, confit tomato • Choice of side
Whit chose Potato Purée and we all loved our bites of this meal!
Bucatini
San Marzano, burrata, fine herbs, Sicilian EVOO
→ Simple, high-quality ingredients done well.
Rigatoni
Cream of Prosecco, pesto, spinach, shaved Reggiano
→ Rich, comfort food.
Dinner felt relaxed and memorable. Honey noted how nice it was to be in a theme park restaurant where the tables weren’t piled on top of each other and conversation was easy. It’s the kind of place you look forward to returning to.
Final Thoughts
Flora Taverna is a great hotel restaurant. It’s beautifully themed, deliciously executed, and so convenient for Helios Grand guests. Breakfast is an especially lovely way to start the day, and dinner at sunset overlooking the park is just magical.
I’ll definitely be back… and next time, I’m snagging a patio seat!
