Our final day in Vail was the most picture perfect bluebird day. The landscape was covered in white and the sun shone so brightly it was nearly blinding!
Breakfast at Margie’s Haus
We kept our rhythm. Coffee by the fireplace in the lobby. Breakfast at Margie’s Haus. The same table, the same strong coffee, the same snowy view outside the windows. When something works, you do not mess with it.

Ski Vail
The boys headed out for a full day on the mountain, determined to soak up every last run. The back bowls had just opened, and that was the headline of the day. They spent most of their time out there, chasing fresh powder and wide open space. Honey said it was some of the best skiing of the week, and judging by the tired, wind-burned, grinning faces that came back to the room, I believe him. As for me, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t breathe a deep sigh of relief when we packed up the boots and skis after an injury free trip.

The Hythe Vail
While they were out conquering the mountain, I did what I do best on ski trips. I read my book by the fire in our room, ordered a salad from the café, and leaned fully into slow.

When they returned, we decided to enjoy every last included amenity we could. Hot tub. S’mores. Whiskey tasting. We even brought our complimentary bottle of bubbles down to the hot tub because why not? If there is ever a time to open the good stuff in a snowy outdoor hot tub, it is your last night in Vail.

Alpenrose Gondola Experience Vail
For dinner, we took the courtesy shuttle into Vail Village for the Gondola experience at Alpenrose, and it was completely charming. Raclette bubbling away, warm pretzels, apple strudel for dessert, all enjoyed inside a private gondola with snow falling and twinkle lights glowing around us. The boys officially kicked of my birthday festivities at the end of the meal, which just made me so happy! I do love birthdays!
It felt festive and intimate and just special enough to mark the end of the week.

As we rode back to the hotel that night, I kept thinking about how long it had taken us to get to Vail and how worth the wait it was. Honey revisiting the place that shaped his college years. The boys skiing stronger than ever. Me finally fully embracing the spa and fireplace version of a ski trip.
It was the perfect ending to a magical week. And just like that, Vail goes back in the memory book.
