After dwindling from six days of lift tickets… to five… to four… to three… to two… and eventually a couple of years at just one single ski day, last year I officially hung up my skis for good. I must say, Honey gave me quite the side eye during those “one day lift ticket” years.
You want to rent all the gear, haul it to the mountain, do two runs, and then sit in the lodge?
Yes. Exactly that.
But I finally came to my senses last year and never looked back. Best decision ever. So while the guys hit the powder, it was all about the pamper for me.
Margie’s Haus Breakfast
We woke up to the most beautiful snowfall. Big, fluffy flakes drifting down outside our window. I slipped down to the lobby early and enjoyed a long coffee by the fireplace while the guys slept in.
Eventually they joined me and we headed to Margie’s Haus for breakfast. One of the perks when booking through me is daily breakfast for two, and we happily took advantage of it. A hearty buffet, strong coffee, and snowy mountain views set the tone for the day.

Ski
Fueled up and bundled up, the boys were off. The Hythe’s ski concierge makes everything seamless. Boots stored overnight, skis handled for you, and the Eagle Bahn lift just steps from the hotel.
They reported incredible snow, a bit of wild wind at times, and almost nonexistent crowds. In half a day they skied more runs than any full day they had at Whistler last year. They came back happy and completely exhausted, which is always the sign of a good ski day.

Spa
With the mountain claimed by my men, I packed a little spa bag with my swimsuit, book and chapstick (I literally cannot think if my lips are dry) and headed to The Well & Being Spa. I started in the relaxation room with my book and a quiet moment. For my treatment I chose the 80-minute Muscle Melt massage. I cannot fully explain why that one, but it sounded right. It was wonderful. Afterward I made the full circuit: steam room, recovery room, salt room, outdoor whirlpool and back to the relaxation lounge. I took advantage of the spa shower and amenities before finally emerging fully relaxed.
Overall, my massage was very good. The facility is quiet and well appointed, though not the most spectacular spa I have visited in terms of design or over-the-top offerings. That said, I am still very tempted to book another day, either with a shorter treatment or the $50 three-hour facility pass.

Back at the Hythe
When the boys returned, we reunited for a soak in the outdoor hot tub. Snow falling. Steam rising. Mountains in the distance. It was winter perfection.

For dinner we walked over to Lionshead Village and grabbed takeaway from Alpine Pizza and a bottle of wine for the grown ups. Whit discovered it on social media and was determined to try it. It is a tiny little operation serving Detroit-style pizzas. Whit ordered pepperoni with hot honey and loved it. Overall, it was good and we would absolutely go back. But we confirmed that Detroit-style just is not our forever pizza love.

Dessert was once again comprised of the complimentary s’mores and hot chocolate.

And then we were off to another early bedtime. We have mostly stayed on Eastern time, so early to rise and early to rest has been our rhythm.
