Disneyland’s Pixar Place Hotel

Pixar Place Hotel is Disneyland Resort’s newest reimagined hotel, and while I haven’t yet checked in as a guest, I did have the opportunity to spend time touring the resort during my most recent Disneyland visit. I walked the public spaces, explored the dining venues and amenities and came away impressed. This is a fun transformation!

Formerly Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, the property has been completely reinvented with a bright, playful Pixar theme that feels sophisticated enough for adults while remaining incredibly fun for children. Rather than focusing on one movie, the hotel celebrates the creativity, imagination and storytelling behind Pixar Animation Studios as a whole. Every space encourages you to slow down, look around and discover another thoughtful detail.

I find myself recommending Pixar Place Hotel most often to families who want the convenience and perks of staying at a Disney-owned and operated hotel but don’t necessarily need the nostalgia of the Disneyland Hotel or the luxury feel of Disney’s Grand Californian. It strikes a wonderful balance between the two, offering full Disneyland Resort hotel amenities, an excellent location and immersive Disney theming at a more approachable price point. For many families, it represents the sweet spot between value and experience.

The Overall Feel & Theming

The moment you step inside, the atmosphere feels light, colorful and energetic.

You’ll find artwork, sculptures and playful nods to favorites like Inside Out, Finding Nemo, Up, Toy Story, Coco, Soul and more throughout the resort. Rather than feeling overly themed, it celebrates the artists and storytelling that brought these beloved movies to life.

One of my favorite details is that the lobby feels much more like a boutique hotel. It is modern, comfortable and filled with interesting artwork you’ll continue noticing throughout your stay.

Accommodations

Pixar Place Hotel offers standard rooms, club level accommodations and a variety of suites.

The guest rooms continue the resort’s modern aesthetic with subtle Pixar touches instead of oversized character décor. They feel bright, fresh and thoughtfully designed with comfortable furnishings and plenty of storage for families spending several days in the parks.

Many rooms offer beautiful views of Disney California Adventure, while others overlook the surrounding neighborhoods or hotel grounds.

For larger families or guests celebrating a special occasion, the suites provide significantly more living space while maintaining the same playful Pixar-inspired design.

I especially appreciate that the rooms feel elevated enough for adults while still making children feel like they’re staying somewhere magical.

Club Level

Pixar Place also offers club level accommodations with access to the Creator’s Club. If you’re considering the upgrade, I think club level can be a wonderful value for the right family.

Benefits typically include:

  • Daily continental breakfast
  • Afternoon snacks
  • Evening hors d’oeuvres
  • Desserts
  • Concierge services
  • Comfortable lounge seating throughout the day

For families planning long park days, having breakfast included each morning and snacks waiting after an afternoon break can make the experience feel noticeably more relaxed.

Dining

Although Pixar Place Hotel doesn’t offer quite as many dining options as the Disneyland Hotel, what it does have is very well executed.

Great Maple

Great Maple is the resort’s signature restaurant and one I happily recommend. Known for elevated comfort food, it serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner in a bright, contemporary setting. Whether you’re craving maple bacon doughnuts, fried chicken and maple bacon doughnuts, hearty breakfast plates or excellent burgers, the menu offers something for nearly everyone.

Small Bytes

Located poolside, Small Bytes offers casual favorites including sandwiches, salads, pizzas and refreshing beverages throughout the day. It’s exactly the kind of convenient option you’ll appreciate after a swim or during a midday resort break.

Sketch Pad Café

For coffee, pastries and grab-and-go breakfast items, Sketch Pad Café is a wonderful stop before heading into the parks. I always appreciate having a quality coffee option without needing to leave the hotel.

Recreation

One area where Pixar Place truly shines is recreation.

Pixar Pool

The rooftop pool deck offers wonderful views while providing plenty of space to relax between park visits. Children especially love the splash pad and interactive play areas, while adults will appreciate the comfortable lounge chairs, whirlpool spas and poolside dining. Evenings bring fireworks viewing right from the pool deck!

Character Experiences

One of my favorite surprises at Pixar Place is the opportunity to encounter Pixar characters throughout the hotel. These interactions tend to feel much more relaxed than inside the parks, making them especially enjoyable for younger children.

Additional Activities

Like the other Disneyland Resort hotels, Pixar Place offers a rotating schedule of family activities including movies, crafts, games and seasonal offerings throughout the week.

Location

Pixar Place Hotel has one of the biggest advantages of any Disneyland Resort hotel: its location. Guests can easily walk to both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. Downtown Disney is also just a short stroll away, making it easy to enjoy shopping and additional dining without ever needing transportation. If you’re used to Walt Disney World, Disneyland’s walkability will completely change the way you vacation.

Who Is Pixar Place Hotel Best For?

I find myself recommending Pixar Place Hotel for:

  • Families with young children who adore Pixar movies
  • Families wanting Disney resort benefits without deluxe pricing
  • Returning Disneyland guests looking for something fresh and updated
  • Anyone who values walking convenience over elaborate resort amenities

If your priority is classic Disney nostalgia, the Disneyland Hotel still has my heart. If you’re looking for luxury and the very closest proximity to the parks, I’d steer you toward Disney’s Grand Californian.

But if you want a fresh, modern Disney hotel with excellent theming, wonderful amenities and an unbeatable location, Pixar Place Hotel is a fantastic choice.

My Thoughts

Pixar Place Hotel surprised me. I expected to enjoy it, but I didn’t expect to appreciate just how thoughtfully Disney transformed what was once Paradise Pier into an entirely new experience. The result feels polished, cheerful and distinctly Disney without relying on over-the-top theming.

As with all Disneyland Resort hotels, choosing the best fit depends on your family’s priorities, budget and vacation style. Helping clients determine that perfect match is one of my favorite parts of planning Disneyland vacations, and I’d love to help you do the same.
