I was up at the crack of dawn for coffee and a little quiet time before our big Sister shopping day!

My first event of the day was walking CeeCee to the American Ballet Theatre studios for her summer intensive classes. After dropping her off, my sister and I headed to Tompkins Square Bagels for breakfast. I don’t know what it is about a New York bagel, but they really do live up to the hype. I ordered one with cucumber dill cream cheese and sliced avocado, and I’ll be dreaming about it for a long time. I couldn’t resist bringing home the cutest little pigeon artwork as a souvenir from the shop.

After a quick change and getting ready for the day we were off for a whirlwind day of shopping. It had been so long since I’d spent an entire day with just my sister, and it was truly the best. We hopped on subways, wandered neighborhood after neighborhood and walked thousands upon thousands of steps without giving it a second thought.

A few favorite stops included Butterfield Market, LoveShackFancy, Tuckernuck, Rita’s Needlepoint, Bergdorf Goodman, Saint Laurent and Roller Rabbit. Some purchases came home with us, and some were simply fun to admire.

After a short afternoon break to cool off in the air conditioning and rest our feet, the whole crew headed to dinner at Gramercy Tavern. It completely lived up to its reputation. The food was exceptional, the service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere felt like a neighborhood gathering place where people have been meeting for years. We were seated around one big round table, lingered over dinner and enjoyed one another’s company.

By the time we walked home, I was absolutely exhausted. Lights were out almost before my head hit the pillow… even in the city that never sleeps.
