After our whirlwind Friday, we intentionally slowed things down on Saturday and enjoyed a leisurely morning before heading out for our first event of the day: an early lunch at Carbone.
We all met up and rode the subway together before settling in for what was, without question, one of the best meals of the trip. Family style was definitely the way to go because it let us sample so many dishes. Everything was absolutely scrumptious, but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be the spicy rigatoni vodka. I completely understand why it’s so famous.
From there, we walked through times square…
…. before heading to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. As huge Harry Potter fans, we had high expectations, and the show exceeded every one of them. It was absolutely phenomenal. I’m still trying to figure out how they pulled off some of the magic! The production is long, but not once did it feel that way. We were completely captivated from beginning to end. Oh, and the Butterbeer brought me right back to Diagon Alley at Universal. YUMMMY!
After a short break back at the hotel, we were on the subway once again for our final dinner in the city.
We arrived a little early, which gave the girls time to pop into Glossier while the guys found seats at the bar and watched a little soccer.
My brother-in-law had managed to secure us a reservation at Balthazar, and it was the perfect finale to our trip. Steak frites all around, wonderful service, lively atmosphere and another memorable meal shared around the table. It was one of those evenings where you wish no one had to leave.
Sunday morning arrived far too quickly.
The ladies walked to pick up one last round of bagels and iced coffees before spending a little more time together. We laughed, snapped a few final photos and soaked up those last moments before it was time to head home. My brother-in-law drove us to the airport, and before we knew it, we were back in Atlanta.
This trip was everything I hoped it would be. Time with family, incredible food, Broadway, shopping, long walks through the city and making memories with the people I love most. New York always leaves me feeling inspired, and as much as I loved coming home, I was already thinking about the next time I’ll get to wander those streets again.
