Meet Amanda {The Travel Advisor Behind Dixie Travels}

If you’ve been reading Dixie Delights for a while, you already know that travel has always been a big part of our life. Some of our very best family memories have been made with a suitcase in hand, and I have always loved the planning almost as much as the going.

What began with a lifelong love of travel, especially Disney, eventually became Dixie Travels. Today, I get to help other families plan the destinations I know and love best, with Disney at the heart of what I do.

Travel has always been personal for me. Long before I was planning vacations professionally, I was the person researching the hotel, making the reservations, figuring out the schedule and making sure we didn’t miss the things that mattered most. I genuinely enjoy the details that can make travel feel overwhelming to someone else.

Over the years, that love of planning turned into a business, and what a gift it has been to build a career around something I already loved doing for my own family.

One of the things I believe most strongly about this job is that firsthand experience matters.

I’ve sailed more than 20 Disney cruises on every ship, in staterooms ranging from inside rooms to Concierge. I’ve stayed at every Walt Disney World resort and experienced the parks, dining, special events and VIP Tours extensively. I’ve traveled on seven Adventures by Disney itineraries and continue to travel regularly to the destinations I plan for my clients.

And I keep going back.

Travel changes constantly. New hotels open, ships launch, attractions debut, reservation systems change and the little details that can make a big difference are always evolving. I want the advice I give my clients to be based on what I actually know and experience, not simply what I can research online.

But here’s the thing: you don’t have to become the expert. That’s my job.

A Disney vacation alone can involve choosing among dozens of resorts and room categories, deciding how many park days you need, figuring out dining, Lightning Lanes, special experiences and transportation and knowing which extras are actually worth the money for your family. A cruise brings a completely different set of decisions about ships, itineraries, staterooms, dining and ports.

There isn’t one “best” answer for everyone.

My job is to get to know your family, your priorities, your budget and the way you want to travel, then use my experience to help you make the right choices for your vacation. I handle the research, deadlines, reservations, strategy and details along the way so you can enjoy looking forward to the trip instead of spending months trying to become an expert yourself.

Of course, travel advisor is only one part of who I am.

I’m Savannah raised and Atlanta is home. I’m an engineer by education, a wife and mom of two boys and currently outnumbered by the puppies in our house. I love mahjong, beautiful hotels, entertaining, decorating, a good glass of wine and absolutely any reason to celebrate. And yes, given the choice, I will always choose the nice hotel.

Dixie Delights has been my little corner of the internet for years, and I love that Dixie Travels grew so naturally from so much of what I have always shared here: our trips, our family and my tendency to plan absolutely everything.

Today, through Dixie Travels, I specialize in Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, Adventures by Disney, National Geographic Expeditions, Universal Orlando, Royal Caribbean and luxury hotel stays.

Some vacations need months of strategy and planning. Others just need the right hotel, the right room and a few special benefits waiting when you arrive. Either way, I want the experience to feel personal, thoughtful and easy from the very beginning.

My clients come to me because they want an exceptional vacation without having to become the expert themselves. I get to do the part I love so that when the time finally comes, they can simply go enjoy it.

If you have a trip on your wish list, I would be delighted to plan it with you.
