Silhouettes and a Giveaway!

It’s no secret that I adore silhouettes.  Soooo, I just had to share that Clay Rice, a renowned so-Southern silhouette artist and second generation master of his trade, will be in Atlanta cutting these delightful little memoirs in just a couple of weeks!

Mr. Rice will be at Limetree in Vinings (Atlanta) June 8 – 9 with black paper and surgical scissors in hand.  To book an appointment, call the store at 678-213-5463.  The fee is $40 for two copies and it just takes a few minutes.  Call quickly (trust me) because appointments book fast!

My own collection of silhouettes graces my family room wall – the top three are the PCP, Cookie and Bird (all Clay Rice pieces) and the bottom two are myself and Sister as children.

And, with the help of Mother, I even turned the little’s likenesses into pillows!  What would I do without her?!? (more on the pillows here)
Last but not least, this brings me to my INAUGURAL blog giveaway – a signed copy of Clay Rice’s children’s book The Lonely Shadow!!!  This delightful little book tells the tale of a lonely boy shadow searching for a playmate.  To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment below with your favorite summer read.  To double your chances, become a follower of my blog and leave a second comment letting me know that you follow!  Please note, the book below was personalized for Cookie.  The book I am giving away does not have a silhouette or a name – it is simply signed by Clay Rice :-)  I will randomly pick a winner Sunday night!!

Oh, and to triple the fun, hop on over to friend calliespondence‘s blog, follow her and comment there for a sweet note card giveaway!!  Her wares are simply DIVINE!!!

  1. Amanda –
Love your pillows! I have a friend that has dozens of silhouettes and would absolutely your pillows too. My favorite summer read from last year was "The Help".

  2. Amanda –
I am also a follower of your blog for a short time now. Your basement remodel is magazine and TV worthy for sure!

  3. I love Clay Rice & have a silhouette of each of my little ones cut by him, as well. I am a follower who actually found your blog through your silhouette post a few months back when searching for Clay's spring schedule!

  4. woo hoo for your first giveaway!!! they are so fun – and you are SO sweet for mentioning mine! thank you dear! :) ok, my favorite summer read. hmm, 'the girlfriend's guide to toddlers' is on my nightstand right now…but i'll go with a more appropriate summer read of 'the help.' i read it last summer and this summer, will see the movie – can't wait!! xo

  5. I have been meaning to comment since I found your blog through Kim at Savvy Southern Style. I am in love with all things southern – but especially southern interiors!! I live in the Dallas, Tx area – considered the south – but not enough for me. I DREAM of living in the Deep South!! Your house – Oh. My. Goodness!! Love, love, love. Especially your blue and white. I have a large collection of antique and vintage Blue Willow – so you had me at hello. Can I ask what the pattern is of your white dish collection? I assume it is antique or vintage. Thanks for sharing your life through blogging!

  6. Thank you Marcy! You are in luck…the white plates are Butlers Pantry by Lenox. We registered for them as "fine china" when we got married but they are quite affordable and often on great sale at Macys! They do have a beautiful vintage look. And while they are perfect to decorate with, I don't recommend eating from them often as they crack easily and are too oversized to fit in most dishwashers :-)

  7. the book is precious… i have had a huge silhouette crush for a couple months now and cant quite figure out where to put them in my house.. alas…. one day it will come

  8. Love your blog! So inspiring!

My fav. summer read has to be the Miss Julia books by Ann B. Ross. She is a quintessential southern belle and always gets involved in hilarious situations with her friends and family in her quaint little southern town. BTW, just started Hissyfit by Mary Kay Andrews. Good!

LOVE the silhouettes. The book looks darling!!

  9. I LOVE silhouettes! Do you think Mr. Rice would cut one of Piper???? Hahahahaha!
