Picture Practice

After our inspiring photography class with Click Workshops, Sister and I loaded up the littles and took them on a little shooting expedition to practice our new skills.  I’m not at all presenting these as professionally perfect photographs – and that was never the intent!  I simply wanted to be able to better use my camera and get pics of the littles that I adore, all histograms and blinkies aside.  A few hundred frames later, here are some of my faves, all straight out of camera…

These baby blues make me swoon (and wonder how on earth I had a blue eyed baby).

I realize this is poor technically, but the moodiness of the underexposure is pretty intriguing to me on this shot.

Love the bokeh (I’m talking the talk, ladies) on this one almost as much as the PCP’s sweet smile.

I then tried my hand at unraveling the great Photoshop mystery in order to edit my two favorites.  Before and afters…

And this is what you get when trying to stage three littles for a cousin photograph.  Maybe we’ll try again in oh, three years or so.

Again, not at all professional, but I took them totally on manual and had a GRAND time trying!  Now it’s off to the pool we go…

  1. Great job – I just have a Canon powershot (point and shoot camera) so I don't know if I can get as creative as you. By the way, I noticed you refer to your kids as "the littles'…that's what I call my boys too! Now that my older son is 7, lately we have just been calling the 5 year old "the little" though! They just grow up way too fast! Enjoy the pool!
