We’re picking back up on day nine of our countdown to Halloween!
October 9: Scary Brunch
Scary pancakes, oranges, bacon and orange colored milk (if only we’d had orange juice on hand) were gobbled up by our little goblins. Pancake molds purchased on clearance from Williams-Sonoma last year. Straws from Dollar Tree.
October 10: Spooky Movie
Just after the baby was tucked into his crib, we snuggled up on the sofa with the PCP and a gigantic bowl of popcorn to watch Scooby Doo Halloween.
October 11: Push Pops
The PCP stared lovingly at his first one for about three whole minutes before digging in, proclaiming it “too amazing too eat!” I think we’ll be serving these up birthday style next month.
October 12: Library
Our library visits are always brief and to the point. We grabbed the first few books that looked remotely interesting and then skedaddled before the littles performed some frowned upon deed (and there are many at our local library.)
October 13: Ghost Pizza
After slicing fresh mozzarella, we used a cookie cutter to make ghost shapes. Olive eyes completed the look.
October 14: Spooky Smores
We huddled around the little fire pit, clad in some obviously outlandish outfits, to make s’mores and tell spooky stories. John has a remarkable ability to eat more marshmallows in one sitting than other human I’ve ever known. (Once again, the baby slept through the fun.)
October 15: Camp Out
Honey and the PCP had an absolute blast camping out in celebration of a little friend’s sixth birthday! Cookie and I stayed until supper time, when the women and babies were forced (no one had to ask me twice) to take the boat back to civilization. The big boys were having such a great time that they didn’t make their way home until lunch the next day! (Note that the PCP still has on his eye black from his baseball game…)
October 16: Stickers
We pasted all sorts of spooky spiders, jack o’ lanterns and black cats into our still beloved sticker books.
And, with that, we’re half way to the spookiest day of the year!
