Tennis Brothers

Not only was Monday the first day back to school, but it was also the first day back to tennis for the PCP and the first day of tennis ever for the baby.

Now, the PCP has been playing for two years and he really shows an aptitude for the sport.  I’ll be the first to admit that I know positively nothing of the game (aside from a darling outfit when I see one) but even I can see that he’s really quite good at it!  So, today was old hat for the PCP.
But the baby…oh, that sweet, precious, excited baby…
August 2012 501 copy … today was his first extracurricular activity.  EVER.  He’s sat patiently on the sidelines all three and a half years of his life, happily cheering on his big brother and never once asking for a turn himself.  I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen him happier or smile bigger than he did as he ran onto the courts.  He was approved for the 4-5 year old group and was just positively outstanding!  I seriously thought I’d just burst with joy watching him have the time of his life out there.

We’re ALL looking forward to next week.  I mean, it’s not often that their engagements involve a covered viewing veranda with ice cold water and multiple ceiling fans…as the mom of boys I’ve already learned to relish the little things.

  1. how sweet! it cracks me up that you still refer to him as "the baby" i do the same thing with my 3rd who will be FOUR next month and it drives my husband crazy :) i can't help it, she will always be "the baby" to me! your kiddos are just too cute!

  2. Adorable! It's great to start them young, especially when tennis is a sport they will be able to play their whole lives. Both of my boys play and they just love it! Have a great weekend!

  3. I came across your blog while googling "Rosemary Beach" images on the computer. Your blog came up on one of the photos. We were in Seacrest just down Highway 30A, the exact same time your family was in Rosemary Beach. In fact, our family hit up the Sugar Shack at least a couple of times. Too funny! I have enjoyed reading your blog along with a few others EARLY in the mornings over a cup of coffee while all of the kids are sleeping before I get them up for school on weekdays and while the hubs and kids sleep on weekends. It is my only time to renew my "sanity" for each new day. ;) Keep the fun posts coming- can't wait to see how you decorate your beautiful porch/deck for fall! It inspired us to redo our back yard screened in patio when we saw your costal touches on your new deck. It turned out beautifully, and I hope ours will too! :)- Brandie

  4. Your comment about being the mother of boys reminded me of this poem I found on Pinterest. I printed it in a cute font and framed it for my friend when her 3rd son was born.

    the Mother of
    BOYS
    handprints on cupboards
    and shoes in the hall,
    toilet seat's up
and there's mud on the wall

    every sports channel
    to them will appeal,
    and the frontroom doubles
    as a football field

    the shelves in the kitchen
    are continually bare,
    there's toys on the couch
    and jeans in the chair

    wrestling and mud
    and cars and noise,
I'm sure you can guess I'm
    the Mother of BOYS!
