Bulls Baseball

At just four years old, I can’t think of anything the baby loves more than baseball.  He could play all day, every day, and never tire of it.  Even so, I could hardly believe my eyes when he made his way out to pitcher for the first inning of his first game.  And when he stopped every ball, made incredible throws, and secured two outs, I had a moment.  A moment of pure, unadulterated, unabashed pride.  I wanted to stand up on the bleachers, throw my arms up and shout “THAT’S MY KID!!!!!!!  DID Y’ALL SEE THAT???  HE’S MINE!!”  But I just smiled and choked back the tears and tried to contain the heart leaping around in my chest.

And it didn’t stop there.  He “crushed the balls”, as he loves to say, and ran like he had wheels.

All the while grinning from ear to ear.  Just like his mama in the stands and his daddy on the field.

There really just can’t be much as rewarding and fulfilling as seeing your child excel in something that he loves.  Even if he’s only four years old.

Go Bulls!

  1. His face while he's batting… so cute! It is awesome watching our kids excel, I agree. I love watching them do something the love. Enjoy your weekend! xo

  2. Oh how wonderful for him and for you. Nothing is better than watching our children, seeing them enjoy and succeed and yes, the pride is almost overwhelming. Congratulations and enjoy every minute of it. Hugs, Marty

  3. makes your heart just want to POP doesn't it? and you totally WANT to stand up and do the cabbage patch, but have to refrain from gloating (don't want to be one of THOSE parents) LOL!

  4. He is just darling! I know what you mean about the lump in your throat as you watch him. Time moves WAY to fast when it comes to the baby of the family- xo Diana

  5. Hang on to your hankie, Momma, it doesn't end and how wonderful is that thought?

My girls are 30, 32 and 34 and I still have to carry a hankie and refrain from doing the happy dance. It is, without a doubt, one of the best blessings bestowed when we enter motherhood.

Congrats to Whit for having such an awesome day and to you for not jumping out of the stands and on to the ball field! #notsupposedtoembarrasmychild

  6. He looks baseball ready, for sure and your pictures are amazing. Not to get all little league geeky, but I'm surprised that he's playing coach-pitch (guessing here) at four years old. Our league has the kids hitting off the tee until they're six. Y'all better look out because the Braves to start scouting him!
