Turkey Talk + Giveaway

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED.  CONGRATULATIONS Sherry at The Rusty Pearl!!!

One of our favorite Thanksgiving traditions is a little thing we call “Turkey Talk”.  We pass around a bowl of questions throughout the meal.  When the bowl comes to you, you pick your question, read it aloud and answer it.  The premise behind the “game” is that sometimes the people you are closest to are the people you know the least about.  Each year we learn something new about each person at the table… and these are the people that we are closest to in the whole world!

Since the paper strips I have used the past few years are beyond repair, I spent the time to make cards for this year’s edition.  They feature a lovely vintage turkey and will be perfect for Thanksgiving!!  Now that John is a little older, I can’t wait to hear some of his answers too.  Most of the questions are geared towards adults and young adults, but there is no reason why littles can’t play along.  I know mine enjoy just hearing the answers!

You can find my initial list as a free printable here.  And I now have even more questions in the card format as an instant download for $2.50 in my etsy shop HERE!  In addition to using Turkey Talk for your Thanksgiving dinner, it would be great at family suppers all month long and would make a lovely hostess or teacher gift!!

Now, for the good stuff… I am offering a finished set to one lucky reader!  The giveaway is open to US mailing addresses only.  Post a separate comment for any/all of the following and leave your email address if you don’t have a blog or profile where I can find you.  You will get one chance to win for each thing you do – that’s two chances per person!!

1. Follow my blog and leave a comment letting me know.
2. Leave a comment letting me know what you are most thankful for this year.

The winner will be announced November 13!!

PS. Somebody asked where the dishes were from… the white plates are Butler’s Pantry by Lenox and the acorn plates were from Williams Sonoma 12 years ago :-)

  17. This year I am thankful for so many things, especially my family. We live in a city away from all of our family and miss them so very much. I am hopeful that I will get to see my son at Christmas time. He is away from us serving our country in the Army.

  18. I follow your blog and love reading it every morning! I am most thankful for the saving grace of God and for my family! Family is so important to me and I am extremely thankful for my husband! He is my rock and such a Godly man. We are both so excited for our first Thanksgiving as Mr. and Mrs.! This would be such a fun tradition to start!

  19. I am thankful for all of the great ideas I get from your blog. I have two little guys both a year younger than your guys, and I first came to your blog for Disney ideas. Now, I'm hooked. I do have a question – whay type of camera do you use? Your pictures are always so great. Thanks for taking the time to share your ideas with the world – Kerry L.

  20. What a clever idea. I am thankful that my husband found a new job, one that challenges him and has growth potential. And, that he won't have to work both the old job and the new job anymore starting next week! It's been a rough transition.

  21. I am most thankful that my friend, who has lived in Thailand for 5 years, Californis for 2 years and Florida for 10 years is moving back to the state we grew up in and where I live!!

    Christine

  22. I am very thankful for my family of course, but this year I am really thankful for the wonderful neighborhood that we live in. Our family moves around fairly frequently for my husband's job and we have been so thankful for the friends that we have made in this neighborhood. It is important to have great friends and neighbors to help you when you don't have family close by!

  23. I am thankful for joy, health, love and laughter! And to be celebrating 18 years of being married this month (30 years together!) I will be with my brother, nephew and stepfather for my mother's 80th birthday on December 7th and these cards would take on a whole new meaning….past Thanksgiving. My other brother's birthday was December 8th and we lost him last July….so this discussion would add joy, as we remember the happy blessings in life. Our mom always taught us to treasure the little moments and your elegant cards will do just that! Thank you, Dixie! :) I will email my contact
info, for privacy. God bless all of you in BlogLand.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  24. I love your blog!. I feel like I am vicariously living through you. My F-I-L went to GT. My in-laws live in Suwannee, so I am somewhat familiar with some of the places you visit. I am a HUGE Lilly fan, and we'd love to move to Georgia someday, ( we are in cold Michigan right now)!

  25. I am thankful for an awesome God, My family and our health. I am also thankful that my mom is still with us this year. We have so much to be thankful for. :)

  26. I'm thankful for my family, but even more so for their endless support. I've taken on a fairly big volunteer "job" & couldn't do it without the constant support from both my husband & my mother. They are both pretty amazing. I'm biased, I know, but they really are! :)

  27. I am most thankful for my family. As the years go by it may get smaller in some ways but larger in other ways. So we should always take the time to be with our family every chance we get. Blessings, Debbie

  28. I'm especially thankful for my incredibly dedicated and hard-working husband this year. He's been working towards a goal since before we met, and last week, it finally happened!

  29. Of course I follow you! Your ideas are amazing! I am most thankful for the chance to have lived in The Woodlands, TX last year…. Moving back home has never felt better. We've learned that you can never put a price on surrounding yourself and children with family and loved ones.;)

  30. Of course I follow you! Your ideas are amazing! Most thankful for moving to The Woodlands, TX last year…. And realizing that you can never put a price on family and surrounding yourself and children with loved ones. We have found a new appreciation for Louisiana, the place we call home.

  31. I am most thankful this year for the health of my children. Our community of extended friends has been affected by childhood cancer in the last two years and even though I am homebound with a child with the flu (who had a flu shot 6 weeks ago!) I am so thankful that it is just the flu. :)

  36. I am thankful for so many things – I consider myself pretty blessed. Recently, we said goodbye to a friend who passed away after a 2 year battle with cancer. He left behind a gracious wife, three fantastic children (3rd, 7th, & 10th graders), and so many, many friends. I am so very thankful for having known him – he was a loving husband and father, a thoughtful friends, a man with a great sense of humor and more spirit, faith, and courage than any person I've known. My world was a better place for having had him in it and I am grateful for that.
