Musings

It’s Sunday night and we’ve had quite an adventurous week.  My car overheated but is back in action (for a few days, as it now needs new tires).  We’re half way through our ER visits with two more to go on this Wednesday and next Wednesday.   The littles have been absolute troopers…

Me, however, well I might have cried when I dropped my book on the floor of the ER.  When I snipped “Darn, I really wanted to read that – too bad I’ll have to burn it now”, the ER nurse actually said good idea.  And meant it.  This occurred just outside of the STOP: room must be special cleaned isolation patient seen sign.

Moving on to other species of wildlife, this hawk has been working hard to destroy our play set with his claws.  I’m hoping he will stick around – maybe he eats bats.  Wishful thinking?  Oh, and speaking of the bats, my girlfriend that found a bat in her bathroom this weekend was able to retrieve the bat from where they dumped it and animal control picked it up for testing.  I’m so glad that we were able to save her family from our ordeal.

It seems our place isn’t the only one where the animals are taking over.  This duck would NOT get out of the baby pool at swim team last week.  And when it proceeded to poop in said pool, it had to be closed for 24 hours to sanitize it.

Back inside, the boys (all three of them) have been gearing up like this and spending loads of time in the basement.  I love that they love dressing up.

Meet my newest lover.  Justin’s chocolate almond butter.  It’s good on everything… even just a spoon.

Since CeeCee completely stole the show in my last post, here’s another of miss fancy pants.  I could eat her up.

And lastly, I have finished up running in my ankle brace.  My last run was 28 minutes and 2.8 miles.  It might not seem like much, but I’m super proud of it (esp because I usually track at an 11+ minute mile)!  Now I’m starting over again at 1 mile and should be back at this point again in early August.

Sadly, I don’t have a picture of our day spent with my big sis H or my day date with bestie M.  Both were wonderfully relaxing and high points of my weekend.  The littles are bathed and fed (we chopped up the low country boil leftovers and cooked them on the hibachi grill!) and Honey and I are calling it a night.  What a week…

  1. So sorry for what your family has had to go through! I didn't realize bats were so potentially dangerous…although I hope never to be that close to one! Do you know where your sister got the cute necklace for her baby?

    1. From sister :-) … The chunky bead necklace came from a "FB Closet Momma" friend. Her name is Amanda Ainge. Her FB name is Fallon Ainge. Fallon is one of the best dressed babies in the Closet World. The necklaces are great quality and only $10 each shipped. She has tons of great colors that she offers for sale on her FB page. You have to be quick because they go fast. So far, CeeCee has white, bubblegum pink, and caramel in her collection. Tell your reader to send her a Friend Request on FB and tell her Dixie Delights sent you. I gave her a heads-up and sent her a link to your blog :)

  2. So glad your week ended on a better note. Here's hoping this week is much better for everyone in the family!

  3. Since you're getting back into running, I thought you might be interested in a website called Tools to Keep You Active. It is a transcontinental virtual tour through the US. It is so interesting to see the roads you are running (or walking) on. And it's very motivating to run through an entire state and eventually across the country!

  4. Does your Mother make the big beautiful bows we see on CeeCee? If she does I would love a tutorial.

  5. Oh that CeeCee! Such a doll! Glad things are going well this week. After your bat post, I have been driving my family crazy about what to do if we ever encounter a bat in our house. They can't understand why I am so obsessed with the idea but your story just freaked me out! I am glad your shot ordeal is coming to an end. What an experience huh?

  6. As a nurse who works in the ICU and ER I second the suggestion to get rid of the things you drop on the floor of hospitals. I am that nurse that tells moms to not let your child or baby walk barefoot in the hospital. We work hard to keep things clean and sanitary but my shoes occasionally step into every body fluid you can think of (yes ewww!!!)and then track into the hallways that barefoot children walk in. All it takes is a small boo-boo on their foot to give the bacteria an opening and they may end up with an infection that could be avoided by simply putting on a pair of shoes. And there is only a few reasons to bring a small child into a hospital to visit a sick loved one. I am always amazed at parents who want to argue that their child is not ill and therefore could not infect the patient…. uhhh these rules are to protect the children from the germs of the patients who are in hospitals!!! I thank you for this opportunity to rant!!! :-)
